Hmm, I paid 40€ for RO2. So if RS is lets say 25€, I will get 15€ on top? :D
Just kidding, but it should be well tought over.

I paid $20 for RO2. If RS is $25, will TWI give me $5?

think reading wilson's post and reading between the lines

what hes saying is all should get a fair deal, so that could mean those with the in before the beta get a little something extra to balance things out.

think thats what there looking at is how to make it fair to those that pre purchased and those that came in late and got it cheap

could be wrong but that how i read he's statement, if i'm wrong no doubt he'll correct me

Well one thing that will never change, is those that come later to a game will always tend to get it cheaper. That's just how the industry works. To compete with newer items, older games drop their price and go on sale to entice new players to check them out that previously passed it up (due to price, interest or any other number of potential conflicts to them buying the game).

As this is our first expansion pack ever, we are still working on how exactly it will all play out. One of the things we do not want to happen is to split the community any more than possible. And to do that, like games such as the IL-2 series (and Company of Heroes to some extent), we have decided to include the multiplayer component from the previous installment.

This way new players to the series who have come in from Rising Storm can also play with all the previous players, while we work on how we will pull existing RO 2 player forward (and no, it will not be free). While we are still committed to providing free content to our players, just as we always have been, we have always stated we hold an exception for full expansion packs. Unlike Killing Floor, we can't generate revenue off of our free content updates with paid DLC skins in the Red Orchestra series. So to this end we have decided to trial a full expansion while still providing free content updates. We are still working out many things, and all of this is subject to change as we move forward.

As I have stated before, as long as players are playing our games, and we can produce a profit off of them, we will continue to support them well into the future (see Killing Floor, which now gets more updates than it did in the period following its launch). This is a two way street between us and the community, and we'll always be the first to initiate with the creation of content, but the existing players need to continue to play and we need to draw new players in.

This is pretty much how everything works if it is kind of fair. When I go to a concert with 4 bands and I come to the last band it is pretty common that I dont have to pay the full price (or I maybe even get in for free).

The only thing that I dont really like is that that RS seems to go more in a developed and published by TW direction. Not that I think that bad things are going to happen that TW would dictate how RS is going to play and how it is going to be but I liked it more when I had the impression was that TW asked a kind of modding all star team to develop something for RS and depening on the outcome it will be released in different forms. It feels a bit like the "lets see what happens" approach is gone.

What We Are Up To - Barashka
http://www.heroesofstalingrad.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/barashka2.jpg

A long railroad bridge, scattered buildings, bunkers facing each other across a long gully. Sound familiar?

For long time Red Orchestra fans it should, because I'm talking about Barashka, the next official map for Red Orchestra 2. Featuring combined arms gameplay and thrilling cat and mouse chases between infantry and armor as they duel for control over territory, we are bringing this classic RO map back to life.

http://www.heroesofstalingrad.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/barashka1.jpg

While its full facelift underway to bring it up to RO 2 standards, we will shortly be adding it to the stand alone beta so players can help us with feedback on gameplay. We look forward to playing this classic map with the community again (and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites)!

A lot of community members have been asking when we'll be adding more vehicles to the game, particularly troop transports. The short answer is that we've shifted around our plans a bit and additional vehicles are something that we're still looking to add, but won't be coming in the really near future. This is partially due to Rising Storm catching us by surprise - in a good way! Once we played the early versions of Rising Storm we knew it was going to be awesome, and decided to turn it into a full product. This means a lot of the Tripwire team have been cranking away working on Rising Storm along with the Rising Storm team to get the game ready for release. We've also been hard at work supporting the RO2 mod community by working on SDK updates and Steam workshop support which we're very excited about. Steam workshop should really revolutionize the way community mappers distribute their maps and make it much easier for players to find the cool content mappers and modders are working on.

We've also heard the murmuring in the community with speculation about how Rising Storm will be priced. While we aren't yet ready to release the exact pricing, we will clarify something right now. We will not be throwing the current RO2 community under the bus!!! Our current plan is to allow existing RO2 owners to upgrade to Rising Storm at a significant discount compared to someone that just buys Rising Storm outright. Additionally, we will not be splintering the community by keeping players separated. Servers will be able to run RO2 and Rising Storm maps back to back on the same server. Finally, while we're not quite ready to release the details of exactly how it will work, RO2 players that don't own Rising Storm won't just get booted off the server when a Rising Storm map comes up. Rather RO2 owners will be able to play Rising Storm even if they haven't purchased the add-on, likely with some limitations on weapon/class selection. So to summarize, RO2 owners will get a discount on Rising Storm, and everybody will be able to play together on the same servers!

So...
here what i found interesting
RO2 players that don't own Rising Storm won't just get booted off the server when a Rising Storm map comes up. Rather RO2 owners will be able to play Rising Storm even if they haven't purchased the add-on, likely with some limitations on weapon/class selection.

If i get it right... Ro2 owners will get lets say ... a Demo (closes thing i could found)
If it will work how i understad it and how its written there... then it will be great. It will give the posibility to test RS and to even play it

Why not making sth like this: (Assuming RS would cost USD 20)

1. Everyone who preordered RO 2 gets a 60% discount
2. Everyone with the inb4reset achievement gets a 40% discount
3. Everybody that bought the game before the GOTY patch gets a 33% discount

Rising Storm + RO 2 for USD 25.

This would give Everybody a decent discount considering at what point of RO 2s lifetime they joined and supported TWI. PLUS, it would give people that haven't heard/were not interested in RO 2 up to now, TWO good quality games for USD 25, which would still be a steal and which should still make some good bucks to both, TWI and the RS dev team.

Then again, what would I know, I am neither TWI nor RS staff and everything I posted here is pure speculation and just my thought :D

PS: of course I don't mean that a player who has bought the DDE version AND has the inb4reset achievement to get 60% discount (= 8 USD selling price) and another 40% on top of that because of the achievement.

I don't see any problem with the money.....Its more about principles for me. For instance from my personal preference I don't want to pay money for the development of aids for new players, new unlocks, time spent on streamlining the maps etc. Because I already payed a lot of money for things that would eventually make me stop enjoying ro2. So money is almost irrelevant for me.

So really, If it was an expansion for ro ost (similar to DH) then I'd play full price. Because ostfront is the boss. If superiority can be defined well then thats ost. Its the source of life and wealth..its in the champions league with games like ofp cwc, mafia, and gta. Games that created their own formula.
