The way cyclists ride around here with complete disregard for traffic rules, trafic lights, common sense and people on the sidewalk etc I have no sympathy for them at all. They're also the first to whinge about anything.

Honestly the next time I'm running down by the river and a couple come at me two abreast taking up the whole path and refuse to make room for me I am going to do a WWE double clothesline.

The fun one is a one-lane (as in one lane each way) road with tiny bike lanes with bikers on one side, oncoming traffic on the other, and you're in a heavy OTR truck that takes up the ENTIRE lane....

The cobble stone room at the bottom should have some green vine tiles and a fire-cage.

Damn. That's awful. Honestly, if you even have the slightest sympathy for the driver, you're an idiot. I don't understand the negative sentiment a lot of Americans have for bicyclists. Entirely different attitudes there.

Other countries ought to take an example from Dutch infrastructure. Almost every road has a bicycle path next to it (see pic). Everybody happy.

Agree, in Amsterdam I always have to watch out Ninja Style otherwise some stoned bicyclist would ran me over!

I never said I had any sympathy for the driver and I don't, he's obviously a nutter.

However things are very different here as our roads are not designed to be bike friendly so cyclists share the road with cars for the most part. This is a huge problem because for some reason most cyclists just do not obey road rules. The problem is particularly bad in Melbourne where they will ride against red lights and crossing signals, or three abreast taking up 3/4 of a lane, or up on a crowded footpath at high speed weaving around pedestrians. Despite this complete disregard for the rules and common sense there is a large protest group of cyclists who regularly stage protests for their rights, they think it's a great idea to block some of the busiest roads at peak hour with their shrill demonstrations. Then they wonder why the majority of drivers abhor them!

I don't live in Melbourne but a nearby provincial city, even here it's a big problem. I run three or four times a week along the river near my house which has a walking/bike path. The path is windy with several blind corners and is marked like a road just like the one in the picture, there's also signs everywhere stating to keep left and not overtake around corners etc. The amount of times I nearly get cleaned up because some arsehole cyclist going flat out zooms around a corner in the very middle of the path is ridiculous. Or a group riding two abreast taking up the whole path see you from hundereds of meters away but make no effort to single file up or give you room. Seriously **** those guys, it's just selfish asshole behaviour.
