It's not so much the drama itself that's putting me off. It's the Spielberg way of presenting it. It has a formula that was fresh in the 90s and now is just stale and just feels fake. I just don't feel attached at all.

exactly my "problem" with that series..and ep4 dident change that a single bit...

episode 4 was another bust for me. so far this has series has been extremely disappointing and it's looking to be another stereotypical failed "sequel". would have actually rather they showed the first 4 episodes of BoB instead......

Well... Generation Kill also is a miniseries from HBO and is absolutely brilliant.

Yes it was.

I swear, any one of those actors in Generation Kill... they could have passed for a Marine in any place I ever served.

(Nate 'Fink' Fick can go straight to hell, though. He's the kind of officer that gives the rest of us a bad name.)

Yes BoB and Generation Kill are of higher quality than The Pacific without a doubt. I'm having alot of fun watching this series but still its highly disappointing so far. Bad casting, cliche lines/acting, poor scene progression, and uninteresting characters are big problems.

What stirs this up?

Because I would have traded any of my officers for him.

All right, I watched the first 5 minutes of part III and skipped it.
Watched the first 2 minutes of Part IV, then quick jumped through. What I saw was night battles.

Skipped part IV.

I thought episode 3 was more interesting that 4, the night battle do get annoying. Its so disorientating and we have seen mad banzai charges in episodes 1 and 2 already, it just seems to be more of the same.

Im waiting for the Peleliu episode though.

You guys are just being picky, there was nothing wrong with that ep, I liked how it showed you the guys who had lost it and where they ended up.

Next ep is Peleliu if you guys want big battle you should get it here, hell it should be a nightmare of attrition.

Episode 5 was one of the best thus far. The characters felt more real in this one to me than any other.

Even the cinematography seemed better. Great episode in my opinion.

And that Gunnery Sgt. seems like such a bad *** old guy.

Looks very very similar to the US WW2 hero Paddy Flint.

Also, best line from the series so far was when Sledge says he doesnt smoke and the skinny southern dude is like "Yeah?..." and has the expression on his face like you will be soon you effin noob. I cracked up.
