Well this thread is basically about story lines and missions and stuff right? I hope so, because I am going to lay some sh** down and really hope this is the right place LOL.
The House on the Borderland
Somewhere, in some God forsaken middle of nowhere dark forest, There is a house, a big motha******* mansion. Rich with Old and stale beauty, lets say this is in Scandinavia, sounds nice to me anyway, and it is time to board this sucka up because HELL is coming to town. But first, a brief prelude...
for days a radio signal has been sent out into the world from this very same abode, sent out by General Krieger. He and the tattered bloody remains of his squad, a mere three men (other than himself), stumbled upon this place after 2 weeks of crawling through the woods, hungry, tired, cold wet feet, and almost ashamed that they gave up the town they were defending. Women and children devoured by those hideous f****! They would feel like cowards if they didn't know for a fact that they too were to be not much more than stomach acid right now if they'd stayed. There were too many, maybe more than a thousand, and they slaughtered everyone, why? Because they are ugly hungry mother******* butchers! But I digress, and apologize for my foul mouth, they are here now, in this house, abandoned when they found it. When they came out of those dark woods, it looked like Valhalla. The huge imposing, almost gothic, and so dark scary beautiful figure of the house loomed before them with the sun behind it. Thank GOD
There was lots of wine in the cellar, and private Jenkins had some grass, how nice. All I want is some ******* food! MREs taste like ****!
Anyways, after medication and sleep, 15-20 hours of sleep by every man there, they wake up and feel the need to explore. Explore the inner hallways of this MASSIVE house. Its a maze in here. They come across a radio and send out a signal to any of their soldier buddies that might be alive out there. Several days later three more come out of the woods, and days after that a group of eight. This last bunch are armed to the teeth and crazy, they have a lot of explosives. Kurtt, (thats me) also has some russian heroin, and treats everybody. Now the boys are feeling a little livelier, or at least more stoned and know what needs to be done. Theres a thousand ugly mutants out there and they are not far away.
The Gameplay
This House needs to be HUGE. With winding corridors, weird staircases in places, not always big fancy ones, lots of small just steps, yeah lots of those, maybe a hole in the floor in one part to jump down to lower levels. It would be really cool to have breakable walls and floors to chainsaw through. With all these corridors and blockable off doors it will make for really interesting situations. This house should have a couple bathrooms, those are cool. Its mostly very tight, but there can also be big open areas too in a few places, its a big mansion. A ballroom. Thats it. I can see one part where there is a big heavy couch to the right side of a pair of doors, and you just have to "use" the couch and it will slide in front of them for a barricade. The couch is heavy so it takes maybe three people to push it. It holds for a while, til those "things" come bursting through, relentless they are. Is it possible to shoot through walls in KF? There is also a small shed outside, and an outhouse(big enough for one person to barricade themselves in, the outhouse) and in this shed there are canisters of gasoline. If you so decide, in the time you have to prepare before the horde arrive, you can run out to this obscure shed to the side of the house and grab some cans so you can pour petrol on the floor and set fire to it later, THAT would be cool> Ok, this house is huge, and it has roughly four sides, it is surrounded by forest on all corners, maybe about fifteen meters away in places and they come from EVERYWHERE out of these woods. I say in some places because the front of the house should have a little more space and off into the woods in front of it there is a small path, a road. I hope I described this as clearly as I see it. There is snow on the ground and mountains far off in the distance. Buuut back to the house having about four sides, there are quite a few openings on the bottom floor for these little guys to come through, windows, the front doors, the doors in the back and probably some weird doors in weird places. A trap door inside the place would be cool, or a secret passageway) A new mechanic would have to be introduced where planks of wood can be nailed to things, probably not too tricky, this IS and old wooden house, you cant just weld stuff lol. And inside the house are stashs of wood that have been torn from various places including the firewood that was stored there when you arrived. This supply is large but still limited. You have a lot of time to prepare, just enough so that it feels a little too long, to make you edgy. And even though you have lots of wood, time and some drugged up crazies on your side, they are going to get through eventually. And when that happens, you will feel like a major artery has been severed, you are going to try and put as many band aids as you can on the wound, but there is a voice in the back of your head telling you, you are going to die. Basically, instead of waves, there will be one massive horde, there will be a time before they show up, but when they do they are there. They will be tearing (or just destroying, probably a lot easier lol) your boards down from all fronts, and you and your friends will be putting them back up as fast as possible. It is also important to note that you will be taking them out from the higher levels of the house, shooting out the windows and dropping bombs. Ooooh, also, they can climb up the shed to get access to a higher story, you'll need to keep someone there to make sure they don't get in. Once they do get in, you and your remaining squad will retreat into the inner layers of the mansion, fighting through hallways (it is important to note that in many cases you will be retreating backwards firing into these guys, often without enemies behind you) and barricading doors, many doors should have locks on them, and only one player has the skeleton key, which can be picked up from his corpse. It would be like welding doors only pretty much instantaneous. Also other interesting barricade ideas are more than welcome. If KF had (I am not ragging on you KF, I would probably say this about any game) a more versatile engine, it could go real hasty guerilla improvised booby trap stuff, like using the electric wiring in the house and light switches, pit falls, improvised spike traps, trip wires, etc. but enough of that. Basically whats going to happen is, if you make it far enough, you will eventually barricade yourself in a room in the middle of the top floor, where the radio is, it will probably be a medium sized room with four pairs of doors, one for each side, but if survival of more than few is unlikely than a room with one door and a place behind a desk would suffice. This is where you make your last stand. I think that is what it should be called actually, Last Stand, or maybe, last call for alchohol lol, tell me what you think boys.
