Tactics The Mysteries of That other Shotgun

I wouldn't consider a spat as minor as this reason enough for staying out of forums. Besides most don't have the balls to actually apologize and will continue arguing just for the sake of not losing. My respect for you has climbed greatly and I'm also forced to admit I may have fired the first shot with the "pigs fly".

Anyway if we continue this virtual group-hug we're gonna make everyone else on the thread barf so I'll wrap it up quickly with a smiley..

:)

Take care.

Has it ever happened to you, when you make a thread, leave it alone, and then check on it again, and its gone on to some strange argument or tangent that has near nothing to do with your thread anymore?

Yeah, that just about me right now. I think "I wonder if they have any new hunting shotty strategies" and am uniquely confused. And as happy as I am for you to settling your personal differences and having a little internet grouphug, Im a tad confused. No offense to anyone, Im not angry, just kinda stunned.

Anyways...

I was kinda wondering: how many zeds in a hunting shotty blast does it take to make a profit, over the cost of the ammo? And how many zeds must you kill with the HS until you have money equal to the cost of another HS.

Im just wondering how much a 'big crowd' is, thats all.

PS: I must say that apologizing is in fact a braver thing than being stubborn. And also that jokes are often both the healers and source of many arguments on these forums (that last point reminds of that bloody 'female avatar' thread, where I learned the hard way that comedy can really create massive arguments).

Personally, Support Specialist has ALWAYS been my favorite perk, and the one I desperately wanted to get to level 6 when I was working up to it. I actually prefer the hunting shotgun as my main, most highly used, shotgun. I find that I can take out large groups of specimens with the double barrel shot, and it reloads the 2 rounds way faster than the pump shotgun has to reload the 8 shells.

My favorite combination of the 3 is the hunting shotgun/aa12. I use hunting shotgun on EVERYTHING but Fleshpounds, and occasionally Scrakes. When I say occasionally scrakes, I mean that if you have space around you, you can hit a double barrel blast on a scrake, backpedal while reloading, and then go forward and unload another double barrel blast to the scrake.

When I'm faced with a fleshpound, I will switch to aa12 which I have generally kept on full auto and not used, and then I will unload the ammo of aa12 until I have to reload, after which I will switch to hunting shotgun to try and hopefully finish him off.

I just have never found the regular shotgun to be an appealing weapon myself.

The Hunting Shotty is a master Support weapon. I love it when I'm in a game and see the support pull out his hunting shotty rather than an AA. Then you know you are playing with a "professional".
You can breath a sigh of relief that you aren't going to hear " I need money" ten thousand times every single trader time. you know you aren't getting "spray and pray" and a guy out of ammo 1/3 of the way through the round cause he is taking out single crawlers with his AA from range.

It is much the same as when you get a real sharp shooter who grabs a handcannon and a crossbow. Or even the the professional demo who by wave 7 hasn't littered the field with pipes and hasn't pulled out an M32.
------

It has been quite some time but I played a couple maps with pump/hunting Support the other day and I can say it was a true pleasure to "work" with him. It had that awesome feel of we know we have a job to do, we both know how to do it well. No stepping on each other toes. When he was going for the scrake for a head shot with his hunting I'd keep the crawlers off him and he didn't spaz out when the FPs came and start spamming an AA12 at it like 95% of the rest of the supports.

It is getting more and more rare to play with a professional, but every once in a great while you get one or two in your random and all seems right with the world.

I have to say, I usually play that way...unless I get lazy or if I'm going to be on the phone or something....then I take the M14 as Sharpy...but the AA12 is a piece of crap...I'd much rather have my pump + hunting + dual HCs.

I'm not pompous: "Hunting shotgun? pfft. You would starve to death if you used it to hunt" Where is the humor I can't see it.

The humor stems from the irony that a real-life shotgun whose spread behaved like the Killing Floor "Hunting Shotgun" would be absolutely terrible for hunting anything due to the extremely eradic spread and resultant need to get nigh-impossibly close to anything you're trying to "hunt".
