Yeah, Rudel was pretty badass. Him and Eric Hartman both. I like how after the war when the Soviets were interrogating Hartman and saying he was the top scoring ace of the war. Hartman retorted that he wasn't the top ace because he shot down almost nothing but Soviet planes. Soviet planes he claimed were only worth like 1/3 of a Western plane so he was really much farther down on the list of top aces. This of course infuriated the Soviets! haha

Wow, I have great respect for this guy.
He stuck to his morals enough to stick his neck out for enemy POW's, that says a lot about his character.
I think it's more refreshing to see someone who is a good soldier but not a completely mechanical one.
