Except when you breathe with your nose and mouth covered you'll leave moisture on the cloth which in turn will freeze to your face. You should really check out your delta elite booklet on winter warfare.

It still warms you up even if it feels uncomfortable (e.g. wet). It doesnt freeze as your breath is warm, it keeps warmth around your face and protects it against wind. I ski a lot and I say face protection is a very very useful and shouldnt be ashamed of.

I know there was a discussion about this when the box art was released, cant' remember what the consensus was though.

They're glowstick pouches, can't go to war without glowsticks.

I find it funny that the games boxart is so much more baddass than that of many other games and yet the game is still far more realistic. Shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

The pouch is an MG pouch, for tools and cleaning equipment for the MG34/42

EDIT*(Unless you meant the first post, I just looked at the picture and it somewhat does look like and MP40 pouch, which would make no sense haha )

I know this is kind of late and behind-the-times, but I just can't get over how ridiculous the German soldier looks on the box art.

I think "OMG German SWAT" was a correct characterization. At least the character models in the actual game look better.

Seriously, one could argue to the end of days about that. Still the fact is that this suit or what ever you wanna call it doesn't fit for a true winter outfit for me. I want greatcoat!!

The MKB was the prototype for the STG44. Admittedly it was only in prototype stages at the time of Stalingrad but you see my point.
