the future of TWI (its bright!)

i started playing RO whe ni got if for christmas in 2007, and have played it ever sence. i also folled teh DH mod sence the first release. i have played killing fllor, and looked at ote other TWI games.

a few years ago, 1C made/published some perty cool games (faces of war) but could not get enough money from that game (mostly russians bought it and there was only like 20 peopel onlien for an hour a day) so, they made some other games.

so, a few years after FOW they released MOW....and it was a huge it. and they made a lot of money, so tehy made MOW assult squad, adn now they have a DCL (5 maps for 5 bucks...great deal....not teh 20 bucks for some COD2 maps that COD has). im excited to see the next 1c/digatel mind soft game...as it should be perty good!


TWI follows the same path....at least from my point of view. it would be great to see TWI as big as infanity ward...except they dont sell out!

TWI is, and will contunueto be a great developer becaeu tehy talk to their players and they take sugestions.

i have not heard a single word about half life 2:ep 3 for over 5 years.....

TWI makes dev blogs that give away GREAT TASTY info every few weeks.... thats says more then TWI knows!

you mean the maps that no one is buying. 5 maps for 5 bucks why would i want to buy that. however since i only payed 35 bucks i don't mind paying... as much. (heck i bought but mostly to support them.)

the reality is that this stuff used to be free or in the form of an expainsion pack. why are we paying for it now. however so many people have gotten so used to paying for stuff that used to be free. that they are willing to shell out 5 times the cost of the game for somthing completely astectic (tf2)

the reality the prices are set by demand, whats the max people are willing to pay for something that's actually worth less than a dollar.

also because this is a capitalistic society eventually twi will turn into the same monsters, look at valve. valve used to take suggestions and stuff but then they got successful and they stopped doing such.

We don't need to buy maps, the community provides them. Just because a couple of high profile companies only care about money doesn't mean the rest are the same, hopefully

battlefield, l4d and tf2 are the only other ones that I ever liked

I also think tripwire earns a cookie(if not two!!!) for their games and their content...

a friend of mine wich bought killing floor because of me will buy ro2 even he doesnt like non arcade shooters, he sad the game is from tripwire so yeah i will buy it. he sad that, because he finds it amazing how much content came out(and will come out) for killing floor and that all for free.

i will teach him how to play ro2 and i am sure he will like it, but my point is he only buys ro2 because he realy realy likes tripwire.

look at valve. valve used to take suggestions and stuff but then they got successful and they stopped doing such.

Valve is not a games developer anymore. They are a PC/PS3 games marketing/sales platform. Any game they make should be thought of as marketing expediture to get bodies onto the Steam platform so they can buy more games and Valve take a cut of the sales/publishing revenues.

When you see free stuff for TF2/Portal etc it's merely a means to an end... to sell more publishers games via Steam. It's free money now with 3.5million accounts. Gabe's a very very wealthy individual.

As obvious as it sounds, paid DLC only succeeds because people buy it. If people refused to pay five dollars for five maps then publishers would get the message and stop releasing them; they'd be forced to abandon the idea or simply throw them in patches for free.

I quite like the RUSE DLC (is it wrong to admit I like RUSE?) but I've only bought the Chimera Pack and not the Tojo one... COD DLC is an utter con, particularly as if you don't buy the map packs you basically can't play online.

five dollars for five maps

lol. Compared to certain popular DLCs that's an awesome deal. Halo: Reach has two DLC packs for 10 dollars each with three maps each.

COD: uo is the best COD i have ever played (early world at war was perty fun...bufore tehy took out tanks....) because that expansion was not free...but it added SO mutch!

free DLC is great, and twi should have both! but DLC should be something minor...like a scratched up pistol. does not change anything except the look.

twi needs to expand arround stalingrad. mabey make a FREE addon about kursk....kinda like COH (opposing fronts, tales of valor, but free) so you have 2 single player campains, and a combined multiplayer. and even if you did not buy RO2:kursk, you can still drive a full high res is2.

and it should be free for people who host servers, as hosting servers is expensive as it is!


the think about DLC is that people can buy them, take the files and mod them into a mod, and give them to everyone for free. thats why tehre is no decitaced servers anymore. but i think if TWI gave a free update that actually mattered (tanks, guns etc) in patch from. and models/skins of tanks/rifles/uniforms for money, it would be great....jsut liek the KF skins and updates.

so basicly, like COH...but OF and ToV is free. and you pay a buck for a black waffen SS uniform, and a buck for the camo tiger. but...modders can still take the files and mod them in.

mabey TWI would have to use a DRM (please god no!) to control the modding of DLC.

then again, why not free patch in the DLC...as a tiger with camo paint and twigs and crap comming off of it would be a huge advantage! os mabey a buck for ALL tanks to have twigs on them. and mabey make it customisible where the tigs attach to (when making hte model you would make hard points for the twigs).

so tehy would update the game with more tanks, and the hard points ofr attaching twigs. at the same time release teh twig DLC for a buck. in the next update, we get the IS2...the first DLC would still work for the IS2.

its a complicated thing, as i can still just mod the files in. or make my own hard pointed models and twig models.

whatever TWI does, its going to make soem mad. its a catch 22! and the only way aroudn it is everythign is free! and if TWI never see's how mutch money DLC will generate, then they will never do DLC.

i still thik that scratched up weapon models. (or a mp40 with a wood stock..but same stats). and mabey skins that make you easyer to spot (black waffen ss would be easy to spot in green grass) would be DLC.

i liked this about killing floor but ro? no just no, i dont want any russian run around in zylinder hats or stuff like that. i know i am overdoing it a "little" but i think this would destroy athmophese A LOT!

And when Modern Warfare 2 was out they came out with a $15 map pack where 2 of the like 4 maps were just brought from an old game to that one ... So cheap lol
