You mean like the one that's being made right now?
No such project exists. There are two WW1 mods for RO2; one is dead and the other is dying, presumed dead. The developers have as much as said that it won't see completion due to waning interest and the sheer volume of work required.

The only way you'll see another RS-style product is with in-house support from TWI. I'd really, really love to see such an outcome.

Make it so! :IS2:

What TWI will do will be based as much on economics and marketing as anything else. I'd say right now, the studio arguably has the most satisfying and playable WW2 based shooter available. Indulge me on this.

So what do they need?

1. Cashflow to exist at all.

What do they do?

2. Come up with a product that continues current excellence, markets well to
the genre and current audience. This product takes full advantage of
already developed coding while expanding on it. This reduces costs and
development time without sacrificing quality.

So here's my best guess: A new addition based on the Western Front; possibly France or Italy. North Africa might be a possibility, but by it's very nature, must be vehicle heavy. I don't think TWI is quite ready for this yet.
I'd say French campaign. Plenty of interest if if Darkest Hour is any indicator, and lot's of historical records to work with.

Most important.
Fixrd bugs for achievements and improve existing content! I mean, the Singleplayer achievements are still bugged and that's not good.

But I saw some potential, the cutscenes were nicely narrated, giving an insight to the diaries from WW2 german soldiers.

If they're guna do this they need to get digit out, Traction wars is quite far along in developement if the media is anything to go by - And this is going to be free to all

FE is moving too but doesn't seem as quick to me, but it underway from the guys or some of the guys who did DH for RO1

Seriously guys, they haven't even finished RO2 yet... why on earth would anyone want a sequel already?!

I really don't need a RO 2.5, let's just finish the one that's out already and then iterate form there ;)

Cause in game development you need to be thinking 2 or 3 years out. At least! With something like a tank for instance.....you are probably looking at maybe 120 to 150 hours of work. Probably 3 people working it up. Sure it can be less OR more problems depending. On gun from start to in game could be 60 - 150 hours of work. OR a lot more if complex animations. Making JUST a map and none of the assets like static models and textures could be 300 hours. So a totally new map with new everything might be 2000 hours of work. And I am being optimistic.

So whatever is NEXT probably has at least a year into it at this point. To really make an educated guess you need to go back in time probably 18 months at least and look at where RO2 was and KF of course. Sales numbers and reception...all of that. But we keep seeing tweaks to RO2 and of course RS took some developer time. More I look at over all picture points to an RO3 or something with similar game mechanics.

If you don't care, and just want a quick buck, you can do KF 2. :D

A "quick buck"? If they wanted that, they could have reused the USMC and Wehrmacht assets for the 2509846th game about WWII's western front after the US intervention.

Or they could even make a DLC-only "zombies extermination mode" for RO2 just for laughs.

I think you underestimated the amount of time it makes to make a tank by about 90 percent! not much better with the gun estimate. been looking all over for how long the devs said it took to make a tank, but I remember them saying months. can anyone confirm how long it takes?

I remember them saying it took 3 months for each tank.

I'm guessing the next Red Orchestra game will be be based on the late eastern front, from Kursk to Berlin.

What I'd really like one day is a realistic FPS set between the years 2040/50 where different corporations go to war. Multiple factions, tonnes of player and weapon customisation so no two players look the same, tonnes of map variety, game modes and lots of clan integration.

These ideas, late WW2 especially. Red Orchestra 3: Fall of Berlin, something to that effect.

Ya TRUE. I did say optimistically. To do an external model with all its maps and 1st LOD about 2 weeks. If it is really complex or just pesky 3. Internal crap is just plain ANNOYING. While would out side model will be 10000 - 20000 triangles and take bit to get from model to textures.. The inside is WORSE. Everything is 2 or 3 times WORSE. Interior model will end up anywhere from 40000 to 80000 triangle and is a true PITA to unwrap. Then... you have the truelly FUN parts. Like make sure your 2 or 3 separate meshes all line up. rigging the thing right and then animations for everything.

One reason I am always running around saying.... halftracks! 2 or so weeks but you end up with both the insides and the outside...THEY ARE THE SAME OMG!

Also they had to start from square 1. Follow on models DO NOT. A pz3 will be far less pain than the pz 4 as a lot of animations and even rigging can be reused. Same with say a t34 -85. Even other things along those lines. You make X gun and X tank uses that gun in the same way. It uses the animation you already have.

Also depends on how many people are working on it. If its one. that guy will probably shoot themselves somewhere along the line. About 3 seems best. A model guy, a texture guy, and someone to rig and bring it the rest of the way. That way no one goes insane.

And 3 months sounds right... I know from SABOW it took Graviteam about 2/12 months for each tank. BUT they had experience making tank sims.

I really DO have some idea of the TOTAL PITA tanks are.. Actually you have no idea!

+1. I am tired of talking about this all of the time. RO2 IS NOT finished. I'd like to see TWI add the missing content for this game!

TWI's next retail game is most likely Killing Floor 2. It would just make sense considering it was a hit for them.

With regards to Red Orchestra 2, I'm glad they are still supporting the game with bug fixes, but lets face it, if you take away community support and the work done by the Rising Storm (officially sponsored) mod team, content updates for RO2 is severely lacking.

I do not see another expansion coming out unless they decide to officially sponsor In Country Vietnam which in my opinion is highly unlikely. I also don't really expect to see any more official TWI content either except that from the Community mapping contest or the Community vehicle team.

I agree about killing floor 2 being their next game, however, I think they will still add new things like maps and guns to the game. Mabey even new vehicals as well.
