I would love to see TWI's take on a sci-fi tactical FPS.

Some realistic sci-fi stuff could be interesting. But please, no flashy purple stuff, cheezy music and bunny hoppers like in Planetside 2. At least the "OH THIS IS NOT 100% REALISTIC" guys would stop whining for a while XD. But seriously, why not, if they can do KF and RO, i don't see why they couldnt go into sci-fi.

That being said, I'd love to play the western front in RO3 with nice new features and mechanisms such as this:
Raven Shield fluid stance - YouTube

... and 3D in-game VoIP.

First/Second Chechen wars would be tight. Anything modernish would be nice so that the game after it would be a throwback to WW2.

Another lacking area is Western/Wild West multiplayer shooter. I like the weapons and the overall atmosphere/aesthetics, used to play the hell out of Lead and Gold! Too bad it's a wasteland right now :(

heh, yah, its hard to distinguish between what I think TWI is working on, and what I think TWI should be working on.

As we all are troubled with :).

KF sales are too good still. 250 000 units moved in a week during the summer sale alone. Those spill over as Valve suggests. Resulting in lots of 40-50 dollar purchases of the entire KF franchise.

Adopting the UR4 engine is premature, but its too late to develop KFII on UR3.5

UR4 likely needs some adaption anyway to fit with the TWI scheme of things.

Oh wait...TWI is obviously working on adapting the UR4 to meet its needs (like it did with UR3).

Too many things are up in the air still. So this is what I ultimately think TWI will be working on in the near future:

*Steam OS adaption
*Steam controler adaption
*Steam box adaptions (those infer some standarization).
*UR4 adaption
*Android etc adaptations of games
*That newfangle direct access to GPU code AMD is giving adaption.

*Coop play development (how can we get more lads to hang out and play HOS/RO2, KF together in a single livingroom).

*Storyline/narrative/objectivemode development

*AI improvements.

*Content and updates to existing franchises

*Businessmodel development - RS spinoff dev company model. What relationship is a good model and how does that free up TWI resources?

=========

And what I would like:

Throw more money at tanks. Something will give and suddenly they will become a critical success.

I mentioned the enclosed coop environment eh? Imagine 2-4 guys with each their own steam controller and a nice split screen on a huge livingroom monitor. With pretzels and beer. Sharing a tank. Fighting on a regular 64 player server (with the tank crew of up to 4 counting as 1 player).

Something like that. With the Stuart and Ha-Go to go with the IV and 34.

This. I was going to say the same thing. I'd love a realistic take on those old guns.

Vietnam is TO limited a theater for historical MP game.
Not even close. You can create AT LEAST 10 maps based on different big battles happened in Vietnam. But still I don't understand why the game have to be historical  I am playing the game to play a game not to learn history. Also Vietnam can provide great gameplay experience because it features booby traps, tunnel systems, and in the jungle is way harder to survive than in urban environment where you can get in cover whatever you want.

I am not saying its overall a BAD idea. It is redundant and would be like slapping the In Country mod with a damned tuna to the face. When I said the historical thing I was thinking along the lines of Massive US forces against a bunch of farmers in black pajamas. Of course...look how that turned out! YEs the North Vietnamese army had actually quite a lot of toys. But they pretty much did not bring them out to play until the US withdrew. Stupid historical crap moment here... the only US tank verse NVA tank fight happened by mistake. A platoon of M48's had JUST relocated to a fire base unknown to the local NVA. They then hit that fire base with pt76's. Now the pt76 aint a bad vehicle per say.....but it is NOT a MBT.

Actually the French indo china thing would be QUITE interesting as would the ANZAC soldiers.

And you are right... throw out history and you have something interesting. Warsaw pact VS Nato pretty much. So why bother with the Vietnam thing. Hay I would play it. BUT that little history guy in the back of my head would be screaming at me!

I'm guessing the next Red Orchestra game will be be based on the late eastern front, from Kursk to Berlin.

What I'd really like one day is a realistic FPS set between the years 2040/50 where different corporations go to war. Multiple factions, tonnes of player and weapon customisation so no two players look the same, tonnes of map variety, game modes and lots of clan integration.

What about planes?

Just thought of something. A game about the Red Orchestra. Maybe bring the original idea back to life with their now unlimited funding.

I'd love to see a late eastern front expansion of RO2. Fighting in the streets of Berlin, Reichstag, epic tank/combined arms battles. How a man can dream.

If you truly care about gamers, you'll do an RO-style WW1 game, or at the very least an RS-type expansion.

If you don't care, and just want a quick buck, you can do KF 2. :D

heh, I have quite fallen in love with the cross platform role division concept.

A smart phone might be emminently suited for roles with limited visibility - tanker. As a mirror of the split screen same room coop play for an entire tank.

Take the driver role, or the bow mg. Does not a smart phone screen help underline the claustophobic feeling tanks had? And underline aspects of limited visibility?

It would be a cool kind of low-intensity play. Log on a server and take a tanker slot while waiting for the bus.

OT as this amount to something I think TWI should look at

RO2 barely runs on mid - low range PCs. I can't imagine how long it would take for phones to have enough power to run a game like this.
