Hero's of Korea. The forgotten War.

North and South are still technically at war. This is a big scoop by it self for TW.
Another thing is of coerce that it will be easy for TW to pass on all the data they already have.

Its cynical, but I'm sure it will raise at lot of controversy, witch will be good for marketing.

At the same time, it will also be good for bringing more attention to the ongoing conflict, witch is a disgrace for humanity.
Any attention to this conflict will put more pressure on our own Glorious Leaders to bring it to an end.
And I think that's how TW must angle it from start..

Let the game be a continues reminder how cruel the war was, and will be if they don't stop.
Keep the game and servers running until they are officially united or at peace.
When that happens all weapons will be exchanged with flowers.

So for the good of ALL the Korean people I say do it.

The only problem I see, and its not a trivial one.
If China and North Korea don't like it. It could be hacked to death by an army.
But I don't find that likely to happen as both countries are used to being portrayed negatively.
But of coerce a controversial game like that must be carefully made and marketed.

DANGER! LOL.

If handled right COULD work out. IF you just focused on 1950 before China got involved. Probably MORE interesting too. Light NATO forces VS North Korean horde. But actually IMO if such a thing would be better to handle as a DLC. Less risk. Also ....if you made RO3 1944-45 era... and you had say a T34-85 and su76 on hand. OH look you have all of NK's armor done! And weapons...well pretty much have those now.

KF2 of course.

But i am secretly hoping for an RO2 zombie mod. Give zombies all that realism speed and players classic stamina. heh.

Only if the "zombie" depict game publishers in suits. Then I am down with it! Geezz HOW MANY ZOMBIE games can the market support? LOL

Come on - lets hear the guesses and predictions :)

Steam OS, Steam boxes, steam controller.

AI, Storyline, objective mode, Campaign.

2000000+ and 250k in 7 days summer-13

Calamaty, non-fps coop...internet...

Steam user statistics top 100 games.

RS spinning off.

UR 3.5 and beyond

Moving into the livingroom.

Games you want to play...
===========

KF has not reached its potential (4 years and rolling. Amazing).

Muck about with KF for various platforms and non-fps incarnations. In and out of house.

I think what TWI wants to do is take what works in KF and what works in HOS/RS and merge the mechanics, while maintaining two very destinct universes. Additionally - fix what does not work so well.

AI and storyline/narative/campaign.

Scaled to single/coop/multiplay.

Ideal: 4 of us with beer, chips, a living room. Hours of play and all having too much fun to even consider going to the pub.

...
....
.....

Hey, you should make a split screen tank. For coop play for 2-4 players in that proverbial livingroom. The livingroom against/with the other 63 players.

The red is dictated from the intitial premise points :).

DANGER! LOL.

Stalingrad happened 50 years ago and neither Stalin or Hitler is around to complain to TW about bias.
And luckily for us Hitler never got to the point that he could add Nukes to his arsenal.
What we have here is an ongoing conflict with potential to start WW3.

LOL

It's going to be a Skyrim-style RPG set in the area of Stalingrad and starring that horse from Spartanovka.

First thought goes to Killing Floor 2, but I am leaning towards a totally new IP (maybe something in the future or scifi).

I think the next game will be a fps, twi is too good at them to not make one! Hopefully it will be on Unreal Engine 4, would like to see what they could do on that engine.

Now that I am thinking about it I hope they make a mech game (something like steel battalion) that would be cool. :D

Heroes of Korea. The forgotten War.

North and South are still technically at war. This is a big scoop by it self for TW.

I actually made an entire thread on this earlier. The response was lukewarm, at best, but my arguments still stand:

  • A potential Korean War sequel/x-pack would use American and Soviet weaponry already created by TWI.
  • TWI could reuse the USMC models for uniforms and helmets from Rising Storm for both South Korean and US Army forces. Assuming they could get the old voice actors to reprise their roles for more period-accurate voice clips, they could even reuse many of the USMC voice clips from Rising Storm for US Army player characters (that don't refer specifically to the IJA or Japanese in general).
  • There is already a "captive audience" among South Koreans who have largely paid good money to see movies about the Korean War since at least 2004 when the blockbuster film Brotherhood of War came out, and would likely be interested in such a title tied into such an important part of their history.
  • A Korean War-based game on the scale and genre of RO2 hasn't been done yet, so TWI has nothing to stand in the shadow of.
A game may not be a tribute to the experiences and sacrifices of veterans on the level of Saving Private Ryan, but it'd be a good start and a good way to bring this forgotten war back to the popular consciousness. I wonder if TWI would accept a kickstarter campaign to fund such a sequel/x-pack.

Personally, I thought a better name for such a potential sequel/x-pack would be "Bloody 38th." The Korean War was fought around the 38th parallel, after all, and it is still the 38th parallel that the DMZ separating the two Koreas is based around.

Considering how TWI has been chasing the mainstream(albeit with a 4 year lag), I totally expect them to come up with a modern-ish theme next.

They're most likely working on KF2 next though.

Well it would be nice, if tw don't move to a modern combat scenario. They should expand the ro2 franchise, maybe another theater of war f.e. western front or for god sake more content....... maybe someone mentioned before, but we want more assets.......:IS2:

I think some other games like KF, but I don't think there will be other RO games soon. Maybe after a few more years.

WW1 or even earlier would be awesome, but I don't know if the big masses are interested in it.

I don't see what's wrong with just making Red Orchestra 3. RO2 only really covers the frontline face-to-face infantry fighting of the Eastern Front. We don't get to see things like mortar operators behind the lines, setting up defences, or even tank combat at realistic ranges. There's still so much to be done in this niche. The Vietnam and Korean wars could be cool too, but I just don't think the realistic WW2 shooter genre is even close to oversaturation yet.

So true !

As far a legit shooters go... Following the pack into modern crap maybe exactly the WRONG thing to do. If we are talking modern military shooter. Likely more funding out there to DO that right now. But likely get a hoo hum reception. Like OH look another zombie..I mean cod clone.

WW2 shooters although done to DEATH are pretty much empty now due to the big boys copying each other to death. Only the Russians seem to be doing dystopia near future stuff... IMO better than zombie number 20 game.

They have 2 franchise's.... so build a sequel to one of them...OR go off into more dangerous avenues. Got to be sequel. Defiantly an MP based game...lets face it...ai isn't their thing. Killing floor right now would HAVE a lot of similar titles floating about. AND ONLY going up. Still could work of course. Wishful thinking on MY part. But an RO3 or something up those lines actually makes ALOT of sense. But who knows! Whatever they have cooking should be at least a year of development into it.
