Most military and police forces in the world are primarily made up of men. Not sexist, it's a fact. And most of the soldiers are from special forces and special police units, known even more for having only men! Having half the players in the game choose the female soldier just to be 'different' (You know they would!) would totally destroy the atmosphere this game has and blow away any suspension of disbelief...

Yes, because it's perfectly alright to fry a near-unstoppable mutant scientist thing with a rotary gun arm with the highly illegal flamethrower you bought from one of the 30+ civilian saleswoman clones, but having a WOMAN there holding a gun makes it completely unbelievable.

Or how about four people using the exact same voice to say "It's raining money!" and "Money Money Money!" as they throw glowing wads of cash about the room?

Tripwire could add constables and community support officers to the game, as those have a decent female population. Your already flimsy arguments about suspension of disbelief would be undercut as long as they make the women average instead of blond bikini bimbos.

In Left 4 Dead, Zoey is a survivor. Someone who was just there. Not someone recruited and trained by the military, then dropped in. She makes sense there. If she was in Killing Floor, she'd be horribly out of place...

I have to agree there. KF takes place in Britain, and few brits know much more about firearms than "This end goes bang". While it would make sense for an armed civilian or two to meet up with a military deployment and assist them in America, that wouldn't work so well in Britain.

I'd rather see more models/voices of male soldiers from different nations (Britain's NATO and EU allies anyone?) than see a female soldier that, in all-reality, wouldn't really exist. I'd rather see them add things that make sense like:

-German Kommandos
-French Special Forces
-Russian Spetsnaz
-American Rangers, SEALs, or Green Berets

That depends on a few things.
1: Is this a localized problem or have there been similar outbreaks elsewhere?
2: How long has the issue been known and how many attempts have been made? Are you a first-response team, or are you a team that has proven effective against this threat before?
3: Is the issue being covered up, or is it well known? Who, if anybody, would the government ask for assistance?

Then there's the whole issue with multi-faction squads. Different military forces have different philosophies and training, and as a result there can be serious issues when you toss a mixed bag of them together and drop them right into combat. Then again I suppose that if the situation is dire enough that they're tossing police and soldiers into the fray together then careful troop deployments are probably low on the disaster totem poll.

They obviously have plans to extend the profile/char avatars considering all the empty spaces when choosing... so I'd rest assure of that. TBH tho', most the chars they have made so far seem like a pack of ghey doods anyway, when taking into account what they say all the time.

My wife seems to think that was the intention of the developers... a group of guys with one female left that is a whorre. LoL kinda funny...

"Because no special ops in the world have Females? Also that no Army in the world deploys females for combat usage."

Wow, what?

Israeli platoon commander.

Corporal Sarah Bryant, killed ON A COMBAT PATROL in Afghanistan.

And there are police in this game, and the last time I checked there were lots and lots of female police.

Jesus, the fake testosterone on this forum is disgusting.

Add some Iraqi females models in there

BURKHA BESERKERS!

Iraqi women are far more likely to wear abayas than burkas. You're probably confusing Iraq with Afghanistan.

Naturally either one would be uncommon in Britain, and even less likely to be deployed in a British op. I further doubt that they would be allowed to wear traditional garb while on deployment.

@krid

Sorry for making light of this intense situation and not particularly caring about what traditional garbs are called and where they come from. Hope you can excuse my most awesome use of alliteration to instil some humour.

My deepest apologies.

Burkas are robes which cover the entire body and only have one or two holes for the eyes, which might be veiled.
Abayas are a full body cover that expose at least the face, but may expose the entire head. Even when the head is exposed, a shawl is generally used to cover the hair.

The usage of such garments and their origins are tied to religious factions, which themselves are only somewhat tied to the area.

Hope you can excuse my most awesome use of alliteration to instil some humour.

Very well. I've hope you learned that you can't get away with making inaccurate statements just because it's a joke. :V

maybe have a trade off?

male characters = more carrying ability but slower

female characters = less carrying capacity but more movement speed?

Why do people want it to be something other than a cosmetic change?
Carrying ability is something they vet you for in basic. Anybody in service is capable of hauling at least 15kg around with them, gender notwithstanding. The police have no such requirement.

If you're in the service then you can do the job. Period. While that might mean that fewer women can make the cut or that they have a harder time getting fit for duty, any who are in the service are perfectly capable.

Besides, if you want service women to have a lower carry weight then the carry limit for the police should be even lower - maybe around 5kg. Heck, since the physical requirements for police are a lot laxer all around why not make them run slower as well?
Going further into it, how many British police have experience with firearms? They've only permitted officers to carry pistols for the past few years, and even then not everybody is issued one. How many of them would be trained in the operation of the various weapons KF has? Well then, wouldn't it make sense to give them accuracy penalties and reload time increases as well to reflect their inexperience?

While I hope TI adds one or more female models to the game, I sincerely hope that they make it a cosmetic and vocal change.

I second this. If players want to play as a female because they feel like they can identify with one better then they should be able to do that. That's it.

Sexist nonsense ala reduced carrying weight for females, reduced damage resistance for males, reduced depth perception for females, males missing a certain percentage of the voice commands, etc should have no place in this game.

What I also don't get is how you can seriously argue whether certain armies employ females in combat missions or not. a) your info is way off in most posts in here... b) this has no impact on Killing Floor whatsoever!
This is a special unit, not the army. The army does not employ troops with fireaxes, dual deagles, chainsaws, crossbows, lever action rifles, hunting shotguns, ...

Ok, so here are my wishes for the female models:
The body type should be mean and lean and not bimboish like the characters in the mod were. The uniform should not show cleavage. The voice-set should be as funny as the male one. It should also have a British accent. It should not be sexually charged (at least not beyond teh sexeh accent...).
There should be at least two army females (with mask and without mask) and two police females (with helmet and with mask).

IF there is to be a sexy seductress she should be a seperate character and a fierce macho-male should be added as well. Gender equality and all.
I recommend one with a bare chest, the uniform hanging over his belt, and he should have a beard. Possibly a Scottish accent.
I've been wanting to play a bearded character since I first picked up the axe in the mod...

Agreed/

I'd think that Irish would be another option, but going with a different British dialect would certainly work. A Yorkshire or cockney accent might be distinct enough for the large number of American players to distinguish between the two, for example.

There should be at least two army females (with mask and without mask) and two police females (with helmet and with mask).

Seems reasonable, although I don't really see the point in having the masks in the first place. If it's safe to keep it off, then I can't think of any sane who would wear it anyway. Especially in combat.

So Duke Nukem as a Scot? It would certainly be amusing.

Give the females some female characters, but give me my SAS character, the proper Black outfit. :p

I'll be too busy jizzing myself to care about women being on the server.

I agree, but some players seem to favor them. Maybe because they look funny to them, or because they give a sense of anonymity. Either way, if males get them, females should get them too. That was my reasoning.

Did you ever get questioned by a feminine Police Officer while walking quietly down Seven Sisters Road ?

Believe you me, absolutely not a grain of humor to be found.

It (a female) would fit in quite well I believe, big bum and size 12 bootie's, that'll put Zoey in her place :p!

Even though the military doesn't usually send females to the front lines to be meatshields I guess it can be done. Then we'll mainly get loud booming male voices alongside female pictures on voice chat.
