This is what I did in Oblivion as well. I only played the game once through because it turned out being a summoner makes you omnipotent, and that experience left me feeling like I had just played the easiest game of my life. Once I could summon the big walking alligator looking thing.. I never looked back. I'd summon that guy and he'd literally kill EVERYTHING in sight. I never fought anybody myself through the entire game. (Kinda lame, really. It's why I never got deeply into Oblivion... that and the conversations got so stale after about an hour of gametime)
Sooooo true. Hell, even moving the slider like 1/4 an inch would make a huge difference. The biggest thing that I really don't like about Oblivion, which prevented me from getting relentlessly addicted was the way that the entire world leveled up with you. Because of this, it never felt like you were progressing as a character or getting anywhere in general. Even bears and bandits leveled up with you, which besides being terrible for gameplay lead to ludicrous situations like bandits running around in dragon armor by the end of the game ...Oblivion had a pretty screwed up difficulty.
There is this slider, that its in an average difficulty by default, move it an inch to either side, and the game becomes a walk in the park, or completely impossible.

Honestly, the combat doesn't really get me excited. I mean, Dark Messiah's combat system is at least as impressive and that game came out in 2006. Sure, it's not an open world game, but it's also 5 years old.Wow.
BADASS.

Agreed. Where as a Dark Messiah style system would be ideal (not a copy, but you know what I mean), it's definitely moving in the right direction from what I've seen. The combat is gonna sit between Oblivion and Dark Messiah's, I'd love that it was closer to DM, but they are definitely taking big steps in the right direction for what I've seen.
Oh I'm quite enthused, believe me.You're just determined to whiz on our parade, aren't you, captain skepticism?
Indulge in some enthusiasm. This game is going to blow everything else out of the water. It's the Elder Scrolls. They have a history of doing so. Drop your damn expectations a bit and stop being so picky.
Yeah, the overdid that aspect, but not for nothing. It actually added to the gameplay. Kicking opponents off of cliffs, into traps or just making space for yourself. Sure, would have been nice if it had been more realistic, but then again, you're playing a game where you suspend disbelief anyway, so why not imagine that your kicks cast a magical knock-back spell.Yeah not a fan of everyone flying 20 feet after you kill them.
