I guess you could say I've only got a "3.5 inch floppy disk". My PC sucks.
I've got an Asus A7N 8X mobo that is really old and would create one hell of a bottleneck if the parts on it were actually any good. I've got an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ cpu that is just barely over 2 Ghz. I've got one gig of old DDR ram, half of which is PC3200 400mhz, and the other half is really old and only like 133mhz. Lastly, I've got an ATI Radeon 9600XT with 256mb of memory. To make matters worse, I find that my computer isn't performing as well as it used to. I get much slower frame rates nowadays and I don't know what is causing it. I've got Norton, and Ad Aware SE, and I've checked for Ad-ware, spy-ware, mal-ware, viruses and god knows what else, and I've come up empty handed...it finds nothing wrong with my machine. I've defragged the harddrive, run 'check disk for errors', done a bunch of other stuff...it still seems slower than it used to. When I play RO, unless I'm alone in a small room, looking at the floor (up to like 50-60 fps), then my FPS will drop to 20 fps or just barely over it, 30 fps max. When things get really hectic, my FPS drops to under 20 fps, with spikes causing the framerate to drop to like 3 frames per second for a coupe of seconds before my PC recovers.
I could have afforded a newer PC, with Windows Vista, an Athlon 64X2 5000+ CPU, 4 Gigs of DDR2 667mhz ram, and an ATI Radeon HD 2900XT with 512mb of memory, plus a case and PSU, HDD and DVD burner and what ever extras I might need......I say, "could have afforded"......I had to lend my Dad $1,000 so that he could pay the bills. (I already pay him a few hundred a month in rent by the way) My family is in serious financial **** these days, and I don't think my dad will ever being paying back the money. Not untill he is elligible to collect his pension, and even then it won't be alot of money. Having to support your family when you are only my age (24 now) really sucks. It could be worse I guess...I could be only 16 and flipping burgers instead of finnishing high school. At least I have my GED high school diploma.
