i just had a thought

i read that people are woried that everyone will be using the mg34 once they get oposing team unlocks

so my thought is this

why not let the DP use ironsights while undeployed

i mean aint the dude alrealy holding it like a rifle while hippshoting?

if you did this you sudenly have a choise

go with the mg34 that has lots of ammo and what not but need to deploy to aim

or

go with the DP that alows you aim without deploying but have less ammo and whatnot

thoughts?

That is a good suggestion, but in reality it is possible to shoulder and aim either MG. Realism aside, this could be an interesting concept. My only concern with this, would be that it is one more reason to not use the DP-28 like an actual LMG. This would only encourage the already rampent Rambo'ing.

DP28's could be used easier then the MG34's in that role yes, but the only LMG's wich where truly effective (and designed) to be used like that where the ZB26(And deritaves like Bren, type 99/96, FM 24) and BAR and deratives. British BREN gunners got alot of training in firing the guns that way

I say yes to this, but only from a crouch position.

Or a unlock to the DP28 could also be nice=The DT. Heavier barrel and everything and a 60 round Pan magazine

I don't see it anymore different than how people used the Bren Gun or the BAR.

For "Balance" purposes, since the DP28 doesn't have very much you could add or unlock for it, being able to IS the DP28 without having to go into prone or mounted would make sense.

I'd like to see the recoil reduced a bit when firing with the bipod. The DP jumps around a bit when prone or on surface, as much as the MG34 does despite the latter having a 400rpm advantage in RoF. The MP40 is much more controllable with its 500 rpm RoF compared to the PPSH with its 900 rpm ROF. Shouldn't the DP be similarly advantaged with its 500 rpm RoF compared to the MG34s 900 rpm RoF?

I think giving the DP less recoil than the MG34 (and later MG42) when firing from a supported position, plus a shoulder firing ability would balance out the MG34/42 combo when they get belt fed. At the very least it would make the DP a more attractive option.

Why?

IRL there is absolutely no limitation or reason why you couldn't raise the LMG to your shoulder, aim through it's sights and pull the trigger. I don't think there should be that kind of limitations in a realistic game either. Yeah, long bursts aren't very controllable but atleast we wouldn't have to deal with this **** all the time if LMGs acted like other guns:

Currently both LMGs are very gimped because of these stupid limitations. Every other weapon (with exception of PTRS-41) can be supported on any surface ingame while LMG can be only used in couple a spots selected by TWI.

If you will hold DP from the reciever, bolt handle will chop off your fingers or entire palm, when firing.
And if you will hold it from the barrel when in iron sights... Well, you must have really long arms.

Also, I don't find this ability any useful, and especially "balanced" comparing to MG-34, if MG will have IS too.

It's not that long weapon really:

edit: It can be easily shot from standing position (like in this video, too bad it's semi-auto):
