Still though, must have been tense at first. Even if you knew you were on your death bed due to advanced cancer; having the doctors say "We can inject you with experimental modified HIV with a possibility of treating your cancer."
Well, at least you generally don't die from HIV anymore. You die with HIV. Horrible as that is, it's not as bad as wasting away from cancer. I know what that's like.

This obviously needs to be tested better, but since it is a modified HIV virus i don't think The side effects are that Bad.
I was going to post that "normal" HIV/AIDS can increase the risk of tumours or cancer, but apparently that's caused by co-infections. It's strange to think that if you could isolate and modify HIV, it could actually help fight the symptoms of other HIV-related viruses.
HIV is just another virus, so it makes sense that when they modify the DNA/RNA inside the virus they can "reprogram" it to be malicious specifically towards other malicious/malignant cells and organisms in the body.
