The guy that bought the revolver offered to give it to the daughter - no fees, no strings - but she decided that he was probably the right person to have it. I think he's probably either going to will it to her children or try and have it put in a museum somewhere.

Either way, it's really an amazing story. One of those random things that just kinda works toward restoring your faith in humanity, just a little bit.

I'm quite surprised that she doesn't even want the revolver. It would be a great piece of history to pass down the family. If I were in her position I'd definitely want it. Maybe she's just not that into guns?

Anyway, keep us posted.

This is fairly unrelated, but this story reminds me of the thread I once read where a guy in the New Jersey area had his car stolen, and with the help of an internet forum, had caught the thief the SAME DAY. It was epic.

This kind of reminds me of that for some reason. Good find.

I am sorry to say that I could not open the link. I tried more than five times but all my efforts proved futile. If he wants to know the previous owner

Pretty amazing. Would only be topped if he'd been a medal of honor recipient or something ;).

You should give/sell that gun to that girl even though she said she's fine with it being elsewhere... just my opinion.

Whenever I get around to buying myself a 91/30 and Kar I hope I can find one that was actually fosho used in battle. I remember some dude posting in one of the gun threads on here that he had a WW2 gun (can't remember what) with bloodstains on it. Pretty crazy. He said he'd never wash it off and neither would I. Trippy to think about. Guy probably died holding it...

Not my gun, so I have no control over it.

As far as a 91/30 ... you can pretty well guarantee that any Mosin-Nagant you get (other than the occasional 1946-1948 M44) was issued in WWII. Any Finnish Mosin you buy was almost 100% used in combat, since the Finns acquired them from (a) dead Soviets and (b) purchases from countries that acquired them from dead Soviets.

My 91/30 PU definitely was used in battle, though. There's some neat gouges out of the receiver that did not happen from being dropped or falling out of the rack.

Wow. The internet sure does make the world a smaller place. That's just amazing.

I often wonder if my '38 Mosin was ever used in a fight, but considering its condition I think it probably spent most of its days in a warehouse.

Ah ok, for some reason thought it was your post.

Looks like I'll go for a Finnish Mosin then ;).

That goes 100 % only for captured "original" Soviet M91/30

... but still, they did see combat, just not necessarily after they were converted to M39, etc. And not necessarily in Finland.

Yeah, like said, pretty much all the parts re-used in making of Finnish Mosin-Nagants have a story to tell from the battlefields, let it be WWI or WWII.
