I generally don't butt in but I think I might here.

Skull I do believe you may be taking Alsbarg's messages a little wrong. I agree with pretty much everything he has said. The people who can't have something will always try to get it. I do however believe that Alsbarg you may of went a little weird at the end with the xbox comment :p

A general game will die roughly 80% quicker then a game that is moddable. Be honest here, who would still be playing KF if there was 0 mods out there what so ever? No one would be after 2 years max (no disrespect to TWI here, just I generally do think that their motivation is around the modders and the modders have kept this game alive for so long - definitely my favourite games company going for the past 2+ years).

In terms of exclusivity on models to retextures is a 50/50. No matter what, it has to look different and someone will want it after it's locked. I personally prefer model exclusives because it shows the company haven't done a crappy 5-10 minute job to those who supported them. Retextures have to be much more detailed and a redo of what was already there to personally show anything of time spent on it.

I will admit, Halo 3 gave it out to those who didn't earn it and TF2 is just a money grabbing whore. These do not count in the comparison to this and some other games that do exclusive content.

Weird about porting games from system to system or weird regarding bungie devs stopping matchmade games in their tracks by wearing flaming armor.

Indeed. I don't think KF would be even half the game it is now without the mod community. (For better or for worse). I would like to think mostly for better

The only time I ever support exclusivity is 1 of a kind and one only. Kind of like how valve gives sparkling unique versions of items workshop creators make and they're not tradable. 1 of a kind exclusivity need not apply to games, gamemodes, developers or software, though. Massively against that kind.

Then what does count? I'm not trying to be condescending, but what games or items or devs quantify as having ample comparisons for exclusive content? I honestly can't think of anything else besides crap pre-order bonuses.

On the topic of recon not being earned - I remember the utter crapstorm from the bungie net forums when people first found out that recon existed and that it simply was not unlockable by any means outside of bungie ticking a privilage on your XBL / bungie net account. Their issue is that they gave it to one player. If they had kept it entirely dev exclusive, I doubt it would have became what it did. Unless of course 343i would have still come along and messed it up.

And to Mrsirr, I didn't necessarily mean sell out in a fiscal aspect, but selling out as in they gave up their baby to some company that destroyed it. Kind of like how Naughty dog gave up crash.

;~; crash

Spoiler!
