[Game] The Armed Assault thread

I realise I'm a little late to the party, but I bought ArmA combat operations last night and I love it, but I always hear about all of these mods making it so much better. But have no idea where to start since there seems to be tons of them. Any recommendations or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I had a good time on the Kelly's Heroes server playing the VTE mod,
Its very much in progress (as far as the maps are concerned) but I was very impressed by the general quality of things.

thanks guys. but im a little confused how to install these.
I extract them to my ArmA folder, and then make a seperate shortcut for the mod I want to play on my desktop? Thats what I gathered from the readmes, but want to make sure I'm doing this right.

Its all about pbo files...
In your Arma folder create a folder : @OFM_Uhao, in this folder create a addons sub folder, extract the pbo file (in this case the uhao.pbo and its pbo bissign.
Then make a copy of your ArmA launch icon and in the target line do this,
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -mod=@OFM_Uhao
Here is one for QG with a little gem that allows you to straddle fences
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -mod=DBE1 -mod=@tc
Same thing create a folder in your ArmA with the addons sub folder then put the pbo files that you wish to use.
You can name the @ folder anything you like, as long as the target line launch corresponds

Wow awesome graphics. I really hope we'll see more co-op missions with helicopters and aircraft in them! Infantry-only is fun, but I wanna provide CAS some time.

ArmA patch problems
ArmA patch problems
hey guys,hope anyone can help me out - i build myself a new PC,but have problems to patch my game to 1.14 ...
I saved the last for me working patches of ArmA to my backup but when applying them i get errors for at least two of the 3 needed patches :
i tried almost everything i could think of and find on the web
and i still get these(atm) or similar errors everytime i patch,
funny thing is sometimes a patch works fine (no errors),other time it does not!
So this is all i tried :
-fresh install
-different sources for the patches
-deleted registry entries and other left-over stuff
-with and without firewall/antivirus
-with and without admin power
-different locations
... and i still get patch errors like the one above in the quote!
Surprisingly i can play/join games on LAN and Internet as it seems the missing files are not that often needed
but still i sit on that s*** trying to get it sucessfully patched ...
So anyone got a hint or know how to fix that gimme a call pleeeeeeeeeeaaaase!

I think the best place to ask is over at BIS forums.
