Question for the ARMA, ARMA:OA experts.

I purchased both through Steam some time ago. I've since upgraded computers and thought I'd give them a try once more.

I can't remember whether or not:

ARMA is required to run ARMA:OA?

ARMA needs to be installed before :OA or if ARMA can be installed later or if its included with :OA?

What do I need to install and in what order? Where are the players going to be?

Operation Arrowhead is a standalone game. You don't need Arma 2 to be installed. But that's what Steam says... Personally, I'd install Arma 2 first and then OA. I had some problems when I installed OA before Arma 2.

I seem to recall that, but wanted to verify it. Other than taking up SSD space, I didn't see any real downside to installing them both.

it's only if you want use A2: CO mode ...

in that case You need RUN the ARMA 2 before ARMA 2: OA

that's needed for STEAM to write registry entries ...

I think you may need Combined Ops - that version is most commonly use in multiplayer. First install ArmA 2 and then OA to same folder. The problem might be steam - I'm not experienced here, but friends of mine don't have a problem with that and use basic mods like ACE w/o any issues.

I played that on the iPad. Interesting, but not very fun.

So there's a new ARMA2R update coming. I believe there's already a beta for it. New features, missions on chernarus(and new missions in takistan) and vehicles to mention some things. Full list here:
