Tis the awesome thing about ARMA in general, it's so large that you can play the same map, or even the same mission many times and have cool and unique experiences each time. Every time you set foot out of base you are in for a totaly unique experience.

Agreed, unlike the small maps most of are used to where you quickly learn every likely sniper spot, hidey hole and choke point, it takes quite a while to even recognize villages and learn your way around a map in ARMA without using the tactical map. It's not like everyone scurries off to their favorite spots at the start of a round. :D

I like the fact that you have to do at least some basic planning; how to get there, who's going and how to stay alive when you arrive.

PvP missions change things even more....

Unfortunately only for the worse, except for a very select few milsim pvp tournaments like RealOps. Most ArmA2 pvp players come with this ridiculous battlefield mentality which lead to milsim units going nearly entirely COOP.

Set everything to:

skillFriendly=0.350000;
skillEnemy=0.350000;
precisionFriendly=0.350000;
precisionEnemy=0.350000;
};

Enemy AI will now shoot much more frequently when I am in their face, but still take forever to turn around and track me. Even at close ranges, I can easily evade 4 enemy riflemen for 3+ minutes by running (and not shooting).

The friendly AI seems a bit dumber.

What are the default settings?

It's a bit low(my examples were from "Cadet settings"), try 0.85 for friendlies and something like 0.75 for enemies. Other than that you should try some AI mods like zeusAI.

Thanks, I moved it up to .55. It is getting better. I will up them to .85.

Any reason why this would have reset in the first place? I think it might have occurred when I patched to 1.09.

AI still has issues when driving in a group for me. Still getting lost or stuck. At least the infantry movement seems better.

And should I try Zeus or UPSMON? I am running ArmA 2 CO ACE. Which will install over this best?

Zeus improves it further. :p

I thought ACE used Zeus? I'm pretty sure it used Zeus in the earlier releases and I think it still does.

@Flogger, I'm assuming you're making a mission and want good AI in it? Well, ACE combined with UPSMON already makes the AI pretty damn good. As I wrote, I think ACE uses Zeus. UPSMON has quite a lot of AI settings as well, check the UPSMON wiki on dev-heaven. You can also turn up the slider of the AI units but even without doing that they're pretty good.

I wouldn't mess with the profile settings tbh. Not sure but in multiplayer the AI is calculated server-side anyway, not client-side. I've never had to adjust anything about AI in my profile files.

Nope, ACE doesn't use Zeus, that's why there's one version of Zeus for ACE and one for stock. ;)

As a note, UPSMON doesn't really improve the AI by itself, it dynamically places them. :)

Now that is one AWESOME video. I'll quote my response to the video here, as it says enough;
Thorougly engaging, excellent choice of music throughout the vid. Some parts made me grin, other scenes gave me shivers down the spine. Simply put one of the most awesome video's of ArmA 2!

I'm getting royally pissed with the editor.

Some sounds work but others don't, when they're complete equal in bitrate, and the strings never appear when they do work. Some triggers never fire if I add variables to their conditions, while others fire no matter what, variables or not. I've pentuple checked ever line of code and I'm losing my mind! :mad:

I feel your pain...
-showScriptErrors in your launch command line might help.

Late reply, but actually, it does improve the AI. :) It's quite a significant improvement from vanilla AI. It's more aggressive, tries to flank you, uses crouch run, can man empty static guns, can enter cars and then drive to a location etc.
