Phew I've had a chance to play arma a decent bit the last two days. This game is just amazing, better yet there are so many of those "WOW @#$@#$" experiences that you can NEVER get in another game.

Yesterday we were driving along in a Land Rover SOV on takistan, came over a crest on the road and saw a truck up ahead parked 45 degrees across the road. The front vehicle dismounted to get out and deal with it because it looked like a troop vehicle. The enemy squad all bailed out of the back of the covered truck in short order. One of our German guys who loves his machineguns starts doing a shooting walk he has been practicing, basically Slow walk while holding on the trigger. It was litteraly a moment out of a hollywood movie to see this guy walking forward in a tactical walk rambo style just spraying the truck.

Driving offroad in another SOV today, just three of us testing out a mates mission called scudhunt. Just as we were about to crest a hill an RPG lands about 200 M back, so I the driver pin it to get over the crest to avoid secondary shots. When we get over the ridge all looks clear, about 400 meters to the far next ridge with a valley with rocks in between. As I keep going forward, at the 1 I see a white streak of an RPG that flies 5 M over the SOV and lands behind, then another from the 10 which again flies just over the vehicle, then another from the 12. The last one landed close enough to knock out some tires, our 30 mike mike gunner starts hammering their positions as the other two of us bail and get to cover behind the rocks. We won that engagement and dident loose a man; from there we had to hump it 1 KM to the nearest transportation. The experience of seeing RPG's flying RIGHT at you is.. well .. a rush.

Later on in the above mission ^ we had were using a striker and returing from feruz abad to the southern airport when the striker took auto cannon fire. The driver pulled it low and into a valley where we could access the situation. We had too many tires knocked out for the striker to still be usefull. Checking thermals we had over 20 hostiles in a nearby village and on the hillside by it who were all moving in our direction. luckily we spotted a technical 500Meters away on a hill that had not noticed us. Our escape transportation we mused. Using the .50 on the striker we made quick work of the crew of the UAZ. From there setting our scuttle charge on the striker we made our way to the UAZ, no gas. Tracer fire from a heavy MG started landing near, a dual gun Vodnik from the village was making its way quickly towards us. Using my Scar RCO MK17 I easily dispatched both gunners when the vehicle closed under 300 Meters. Just when we thought we had the situation under control another vodnik started moving towards us from the town, this one with the 30 autocannon on top. Luckily our out of gas UAZ had a KORD on top and I quickly mounted the gun ( which for some reason looked like it had explosive ammo because the rounds caused small explosions when they landed ). Raking the sides of both Vodniks brought both of them to their humble ends ( thank Heaven for HMG's). The problem being now that our only transport possible transport was a Range rover with a .50 that was located near this village which was still teaming with lots of foot mobiles, and we had a man down on revive timer by our striker. Sev and I moved back the striker, revived our man; then performed a move and shoot movement up a small depression all the way to where the range rover was parked; killing another 10-20 hostile targets who were probably on their way to kill those three damned pesky Rangers. Got to the Range rover, which thankfully had gas, got in and got the F*@#$ outa dodge.
And once again, I find myself wishing that I had fraps running actively on my computer so that I could put up videos of this stuff ( I will after I upgrade this july - november sometime )
Tis the awesome thing about ARMA in general, it's so large that you can play the same map, or even the same mission many times and have cool and unique experiences each time. Every time you set foot out of base you are in for a totaly unique experience.
