It's only possible if you have both a long and a short range radio.
Put your long range radio (or short range) to the desired frequence and put your short range radio to your squad's frequence. You then can switch between your active radios by pressing ctrl+shift+x.
We have a command net which every NCO can listen into on the long range comms and use the short range radios for section (or squad) internal communications.
Long range has two channels for us (with possible emergency channels) -> Command net, Air wing net
Short range is being used by each individual section
After all, the only difference between logn and short range radios are their range and size, the frequencies they send at may be the same (althought the channels may or may not be the same)
I know, but the problem with that is that you can't listen to two radios at the same time, can you? So for example, you're on channel 2 of the hand-held, commanding your squad. Command net is channel 1. But you can't hear the other squad leaders because you're on channel 2. That's what I meant. In real life this does work, I'm quite sure of it (you set the manpack and your hand-held to different frequencies).
Our organization is like this: first there is HQ. Then each squad has a team leader. And all of the team leaders should be able to contact each other, and HQ, at all times. I'm not sure if that is possible in ACRE. It is in TS3, with whisper or channel commanders. I like whisper, it's not as realistic maybe, but it works.
EDIT: dogbadger, I don't have a lot of time these days, sorry mate. Hope you guys can get a game going soon
