NOES

On-topic: LemoN, do you know if it's possible to listen to two frequencies at once in ACRE? For example: you're squad leader Alpha and want to listen to your team's communication over the hand-held radio but at the same time listen to the other squad leaders who are 6km away using the manpack radio.

It's only possible if you have both a long and a short range radio.
Put your long range radio (or short range) to the desired frequence and put your short range radio to your squad's frequence. You then can switch between your active radios by pressing ctrl+shift+x.

We have a command net which every NCO can listen into on the long range comms and use the short range radios for section (or squad) internal communications.

Long range has two channels for us (with possible emergency channels) -> Command net, Air wing net

Short range is being used by each individual section

After all, the only difference between logn and short range radios are their range and size, the frequencies they send at may be the same (althought the channels may or may not be the same)

I know, but the problem with that is that you can't listen to two radios at the same time, can you? So for example, you're on channel 2 of the hand-held, commanding your squad. Command net is channel 1. But you can't hear the other squad leaders because you're on channel 2. That's what I meant. In real life this does work, I'm quite sure of it (you set the manpack and your hand-held to different frequencies).

Our organization is like this: first there is HQ. Then each squad has a team leader. And all of the team leaders should be able to contact each other, and HQ, at all times. I'm not sure if that is possible in ACRE. It is in TS3, with whisper or channel commanders. I like whisper, it's not as realistic maybe, but it works.

EDIT: dogbadger, I don't have a lot of time these days, sorry mate. Hope you guys can get a game going soon :)

Long range radio = command net (for instance channel 1)
Short range radio = Squad/Section net (for instance channel 2)

Set both your radios to that and switch in between the two. You can still listen into channels with your radios if you don't have them selected.

If you have time from 1830 ZULU to 2100 ZULU on a Sunday then you could join mine. :D
Appreciate the offer but the game hardly performs well in latency terms at 50-100ms, I dread to think what it would be like trying to connect to an overseas server.

That is a great screenshot :) I am a bearded character as well.

So am I, except mine looks like a layer of **** smeared out over my character's face.

The beard is supposed to be black (it's a custom face) and in the character select screen it looks okay, but ArmA 2's lighting system makes it look all blurry and light-brown in-game. Except under low lighting conditions or if I'm facing away from the sun.

Seriously, of all bugs in ArmA 2 / OA, that is the one I'd wish they'd fix the most.

LemoN, did you guys have a photo session? :D

ArmA1 is on a German gaming magazine's disk this month. Forgot which one, I only saw it in passing, but if you're interested I'm sure you'll find it. Should cost something between 5 and 10

Dslyecxi's ShackTac has just released a nifty little addon many of you would probably like to know about: this small mod decreases the collision detection on weapons. What that means is that you will no longer will get hung up on doorways when entering buildings, and can even sidestep into a building, providing a much smoother CQB experience.
