Ok I'm confused, OA mods don't work if you integrate vanilla Arma2 and run it as Combined Arms? I'm trying to get VOP sounds 2.3 to work with CO. I thought CO was simply Arma 2 content integrated with OA, meaning it is OA with more units, vehicles, islands, et. But it seems to be a separate game unto itself. Anyone know any sound mods that are CO compatible?

I don't know tbh.
I always used mods that are proven to work, never tried to download stuff that hasn't been recommended by a friend.

Soundmods that work with vanilla ArmA2 should work with the arma2 content in CO, or at least HIFI does.

From what i read, the BAF units are in this patch too, just low-res versions of them.
If you want the hi-res versions and the campaign (island too i guess?) you buy the BAF DLC. But regardless you should be able to play with the British.

I havent been able to test it yet because when i installed OA, i accidentily installed it into a folder inside the ArmA 2 folder, instead of into the arma 2 folder itself
I cut everything out and pasted it in the ArmA 2 folder, and OA worked but i got no Combined Operations thing going on, even though i can use ArmA 2 stuff in OA.
Worked fine untill now when the patch says i havent got OA installed at all, so i'm redownloading it :(

Great DLC!
I love the face that they included a "light" version in the recent patch to enable people who didn't buy it to play with people who bought it.

This game fails on so many levels, but because its so ambitious, i cant help but forgive and continue to play. its definitely a very deep and intense game. i enjoy it, its very ambitious but the dev team is just straight out lackadaisical in their execution: namely the animations, the sound, and the programming. game breaking bugs, guns that lack and end up sounding like capguns, the reload animations are straight from N64 Goldeneye, the soldiers backpack that sticks out of the vehicle when hes driving, just all out lack of attention to detail. like handing in a big 500 page report with mustard stains on it.

with time this could be a good game (how many times have ppl said this about arma?)

ARMA 2, the expansion and DLC: a 4 out of 10.

Hold on for a bumpy time in this thread man.

i expect it from the fanboys, honestly, ARMA 2 is a 500 page report with mustard stains on it. its ambitious, and at times impressive, but so much of it is careless, halfassed, lackadaisical etc etc, there just shouldnt be any excuse for it.

NOTE: i dont hate ARMA, i enjoy playing it. dont burn me.

here to kill your monster
nearly all my favourite shooters - games infact - have some serious flaws.
I agree in so far as the ambition, enthusiasm, and independant character more than makes up for misgivings.

Is anyone up for a 1.07 mission today?
Oh and again, is anyone running this on a laptop? I'd be interested in spec and performance...

i agree definitely, what brought this up was i had a friend over, and i was telling him all about ARMA 2, he was pretty impressed so next time he came over he watched me play, and although he was impressed by the scope of it, he pointed out so many mistakes in the game that i hadnt really noticed before - im used to playing Goldeneye Source, Killing Floor, and other UT2004 mods.

the stuff just needs more polish. btw your laptop might not fair well, this game is a system hog, even more so when the AI tries swimming, and ALL 100 of em drown leaving behind hundreds of supply equipment floating in the water. most hardcore lag ever experienced. THAT's what im talking about when i mention carelessness in ARMA.

Graphical bug, I used to get it in Arma 1 whenever I used night vision, screen would go black after about 5 minutes of it, I wasn't the only one and they never ever fixed it.

I agree with you about Arma 2 dex, though I don't think the ambitiousness and scope of it makes up for anything. It's an ok game but the serious lack of polish, bugs and never ending performance issues stop me from playing it.

Also what were they thinking with the campaign?! The idea of making it really open and free roaming while having scripting so bugged that if you don't do things in a very exact order and timing the mission cannot be completed, ever. Well they must have been smoking the carpet when they came up with that idea.

Honestly what was wrong with the campaign style from OFP and Resistance

Nothing, but they wanted to take it to the next level.
Unfortunately, that didnt turn out so well. If everything did work perfectly however, it would be one hell of a campaign dont you agree?
Most of the bugs should have been fixed with the latest patches though, i havent heard many people complain about it anymore at least.
