I'm not sure if I have it or not.

What happened yesterday:

  1. I put in CC info.
  2. Received error message stating that address was incorrect and transaction could not be completed.
  3. Tried again and removed some of the extra characters the Steam support FAQ suggested.
  4. See 2.
  5. A hold for the exact amount is placed on my CC account.
  6. I wait and nothing happens the whole day.
What happened today:

  1. There is still a hold on my CC account for the same amount.
  2. Games show up in my Steam games library.
  3. I choose to install
  4. Receive error message that the transaction is still pending
  5. Restart Steam
  6. Games are gone
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! I know I haven't bought anything off of Steam in a while, but it was never this time consuming or unclear. This is the same account I have used for years and, in fact, the exact same CC I have used on other Steam purchases. I don't know what else to do.

Also, the steam website and steam itself seem to connecting really slow as well. No other website is slow for me, just steam.

Fixed. :p

:IS2:
From wikipedia: "Whisky (Scottish English) or whiskey (Irish English) is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash."

So ha! Plus Firefox says whisky is the incorrect spelling, so double ha.:p

P.S. ArmA 2: Combined Operations is now back in the shopping cart. So I guess it didn't go through... but there is still a hold on my CC account after a whole day? Can't Valve just get their **** together for one hour so I can pay them and get my game?

i've never bought anything from steam, closest i came was a 2nd (3rd?) copy of rainbow6:3 so i didn't need to use the disk.
physical copies seem an easier process to me.
Anyways hope it gets sorted and maybe join the ROarma group when it's done

Anyway, I hope you get your ArmA2 soon, did you also buy OA?
Yeah I went for the Combined Operations pack which has both.

The whole reason I chose the steam version was avoid the DRM that came with it. Even though there is a patch to remove it, I don't want it on my system in the first place. Especially since, in the past, you may find out months later that said DRM program causes harm to you PC even though you thought you "removed" it.

I'm in the process of the whole steam support ticket dance, so maybe this will be sorted out before the new millennium .

are the laptops (not just the most expensive ones) that run arma2 pretty well?
I was wondering as cpu and ram seem to be big factor's in the series. Obviously a decent ati radeon mobility or something too (arma apparentely likes ati)
anyone run on a laptop here?

if any missions tonight i'm up for it as usual...

Finally, the sale went through, too late to DL both games right now but I'm looking up some mods. Did you guys find it easier to start off vanilla and gradually add mods or did you just go full on mod crazy and crammed all that could fit on your HDD?

I want to play the SP campaigns and some SP scenarios by myself first (to get used to controls and such) and I wonder if having ACE 2 + SLX would be too hardcore for a newbie to start off with? Plus I'm not sure how it will affect SP campaigns. Hope it won't break any of the missions. Definitely going to add some sound mods no matter what, there are several really good ones and the defaults are meh. Any other useful/good small mods that you guys can think of that don't affect missions in any way?

ACE might mess up some missions unless they were designed to work with ACE. Best example i can think of right now is needing to blow up a tank or something like that with a weapon that lacks a punch in ACE but would have worked fine with vanilla. We've had some coop sessions where this became a problem.

To start off with i'd think ArmA 2 + OA has more than enough content to begin with.
SLX is a pretty good mod but thank god it's modular, because it also edits animations and basically speeds them up 2 or 3 times, which looks absolutely ridiculous. Those parts you can remove, thankfully but it takes some time to figure out which is which and rebooting every time to see if it had the desired effect.
Ofcourse if you are familiar with mods, it wouldnt hurt to download some of the best custom maps, like Isla Pantera, Isla Duala, Thirsk (which comes with summer and winter versions), FDF Podagorsk etc.
Unit mods dont hurt either, for example for me as a Dutchman it's interesting to download the Dutch Army mod straight away, as it's not changing gameplay like ACE or SLX mods do.
+ ACE is a ***** to install.

Tip: i dont know if you are familiar with mod folders, but use them. Dont plonk all your mods into the addon map, because in the end you might want to get rid of some of them and you wont be able to see which belongs to the vanilla game and which not.

Do they let Scottish ppl pilot apaches? I wish my system could run arrow head.

Don't know about that but my mate Jock used to drive a Tank.
Admittedly it was not an :IS2: but it did have a big gun.

He was from Paisley.
