So I haven't bought Arma II yet, especially since even the demo CTDs on me, but in the last week everyone seems to have left Arma I multiplayer games. I was hoping that Arma I would slowly die away, but it kicked the bucket pretty fast.

Is online life pretty awesome for Arma II? Should I wait a bit for some bug fixes or a non DRM-ed version to come out, or is there nothing to wait for and I should get it now now now?

I can recommend it if you play Arma II with people over TS. Then it's really awesome, even there are some bugs here and there.

However I can't enjoy playing Arma 2 on random online servers. There are too many people tking on purpose and you hardly will find any teamplay.

There are still many bugs in singleplayer campaign. But the main problem is the KI. The enemy KI is extreme hard as they can sometimes spot you through walls and the team KI is completely stupid.

However I didn't play Arma I, so I can't say how polished it was concerned to part II.

Just get it Britney, choose your servers carefully for on-line play and enjoy the campaign and the player made single/co-op missions which are starting to filter through.

I too have not bought it waiting on some reports. The multiplayer doesnt sound like to much fun yet. Will we be forming some groups from these boards to play co-op missions and such?

I've been playing the campaign for a few hours now, really enjoying it and haven't had any problems running it. Couple of small bugs I've encountered haven't really affected anything at all.

Reminds me a lot more of Operation Flashpoint than ArmA did.

All details on Medium with shadows and postprocessing on high, vis is at 1800m and I'm getting a good steady fps around 30+ even in built up or in the forests. Even with the relatively low fps it does seem very smooth to play.

Rig I'm running it on, if you're wondering if you can run it is

AMD Phenom X4 9750
4GB 6400 DDR2
Sapphire Radeon 4850 Toxic

Well, I got a new CPU (Q6700) and a new monitor (finally, no CRT for me!), and got Arma2. I'm quite happy with the performance with details set to normal, no AA, no postprocessing. I can run it smoothly at 1920x1200.

It's fun. I may have to come back to you guys for tips on completing the SP campaign and getting all of the little evidence bits, completing every side mission, etc.

Game crashes when i resume my campaign.

Have to revert. Dunno if this is standard practice for patching.

That's logical, considering they changed stuff in the mission themselves.
When you are trying to load an old savegame, it tries to load stuff that might not be there anymore, or stuff that should be there in the new patch but isnt.
Simply put, the mission files dont match anymore.
