I have finally opened my eyes a bit, and I'm ready to admit that I think that the KF section in the forums has turned into an absolute cesspit.

My PC is a murderer. I've had two unexplainable shutdowns on my PC. No BSOD, no wierd noises, nothing. Just a cut to black, and the PC lights are on, but there's nobody home. Now the first time this happened I was running Arma 2 maxed out (very absolute mega smooth performance for 30mins or so 'til it switched off) so I assume it was overheating. But earlier I was playing KF for the 7th time since I got this PC, and early in the game, I get the shutdown. The PC is not overheated at all!

Y u do dis, computir. Anyone have any idea why it could be doing this? Cougar Extreme assured me that all the parts are perfectly compatible, but that doesn't seem to be the case... But I don't know much about PC hardware at all.

Have you done any new software installs to go with your new hardware?

If you mean stuff like the drivers for all the innards, that's supposedly done for me, but I suppose I could do a double check on that soonish.

Is it getting enough power? (PSU)

Well the receipt is confusing me here... it says my case came with a 450W PSU, but I remember selecting a 600W PSU, and then just after that, it says that I've got a CiT 700W PSU. If it's a 450W, even I know that's a problem - too little a wattage. If it's a 700W, there shouldn't be a problem with the PSU, but if it is a problem, my other PC that died has a less-than-a-year-old PSU that is 800W (and works perfectly), in case I need it. I'm not too keen on prying open my case as of yet, so I'd like to think about what other problems I could have.

My two-year-old cousin has just started swearing. She's sitting next to me right now going "F*****ck. c: "

God damn it.

Edit: BY THE WAY, on the topic of my PC troubles, I've updated my drivers a few hours ago and no crashes since. Thanks for all the advice that y'all have given me! :3

Too bad mate

Open up the case, all the PSU info should be written on the side, its the quickest way to determine what youve got.

After doing that, write down the 12 V rail info, especially the Amps, then google for your video cards specs and make sure your amps are at least greater than your video cards demands. The 12 v rail also supplies your optical drives and any hdd's, so just matching the requirement is a recipe for the psu croaking in 12 months.

My rig has dual 12 V rails and puts on 30 Amps on each, I use about half of that, and as a result my PSU has worked fine an dandy for the last six years. ( Brand = pc power & cool, I HIGHLY recommend ).

Other possibilities for that kind of symptom could be a crack in the motherboard, which seems unlikely because of how infrequent these are. or possibly a fault in the CPU, again not as likely.

...ARSE. I got the crash again whilst running Arma 2. Everything else is fine and dandy, though. I guess I should take your advice and have a look at the PSU!

It sounds like a PSU crash Gibby.

Anyhow, I'm keeping out of the RO2 forums until the game is released.

Also, I like how ducks land on water !:D
