Stepped into the flowerbed to turn on the faucet to water so I could water the bed. Just as I reached for the faucet a movement caught my eye. Less than a foot away was a rather large water moccasin.
Spoiler!
Scared the crap out of me! I went into the house to get a shotgun, but when I came back out he was nowhere to be found......Great. Now there's a venomous snake either under my house or in the flowerbeds waiting to strike.
I hate cotton-mouths. They make no noise, generally won't move when they feel threatened and will just lay there patiently until you get close enough...then they strike. At least a rattlesnake will usually warn you or will move on and try to avoid you......
edit - ..and I fully understand life's stresses can weigh much more on a person than their access to gaming or mental escape. So, I didn't mean to make light if in fact you're dealing with something heavier than a crappy day. In any case, you can see where my priorities are at the moment
Today I enjoyed copious amounts of crawfish and beer after over a year of absence. I don't know if anyone here besides Floyd can understand the magnitude of this event.
When i was younger, i tried playing football with my neighbour and his dad, and short story (since i was young and i don't really remember it) i was hit in the head twice by the flying football, on 2 seperate occasions (which may account for why i can't remember it )
Later on, in high school, in year 7 i was hit in the nose by a flying ball. Of all places, the nose! Then in year 8, hit in the nose again by a soccer ball kicked by a pro soccer player on the opposing team. F*ck that hurt.
By year 9 i had developed a distinct fear of ball games, and had a note for every single PE class. Every. Single. One.
Which was kind of a shame since the PE teacher was really nice.
The second half of high school was remarkably pleasant, since for those 3 years i didn't have to do PE at all!
I still have a phobia for ball games
This most likely explains why i went with a more sedate form of exercise...
Spoiler!
Heavy Metal double bass drumming
Feel the burn of the pelvic muscles after a intense workout :IS2:

I'm jealous. No crawfish boils for me yet. Perhaps next weekend.
They tell me with the high water in the Atchafalaya that the crawfish season should be good. In '73, the last time the Morganza Spillway was opened, you could literally stop on any roadside in the basin and fill up a #8 washtub with them as they followed the water down.
We went crawfishing that year, filled the bateau so full of crawfish we had to swim along side and pull the boat back to the dock. Then we dumped them all in the trunk of my friends car for the ride home. Car didn't smell too good after that, but we ate crawfish for days
@Nestor
Odd thing is that we have a flood on one side of the levee and we're in a drought on the other...... go figure. If not frogs, the I'm expecting locusts.
