Speaking of Wii's.. I have one for sale. Someone in the family thought it was a good idea to buy me one of these a year or so after they came out. Needless to say it's been sitting in the closet all this time. Probably the closest thing to brand new without actually being unopened you can find. Even the batteries that came with the thing are still in the original cellophane. 4 games, two Wiimotes w/clear snuggies & nunchuks, aftermarket rechargeable battery setup too. What's a good price for this.. 120? 100?

Any Greeks on here? I was watching a documentary about the Golden Dawn and it's some scary stuff. Particularly how they apparently have many allies in the police force now.

One of my friends from high school is planning on becoming a cop (misguided idealism, he thinks he will be helping people :p, I told him to become a firefighter instead but he says that's all paper work :/), and I'm worried about him because I see the same kind of thing happening with the police over here in the US as in Greece if things continue to go south economically. Looking at pictures from Boston things already look like a police state and the cops are very militarized. My friend's a good dude and I don't think he will be "corrupted" or anything, but I still think joining the police is a really unwise move right now. (well I would say any time it's a bad idea, but especially right now)

But hey, it's his life right :p.

Yeah it's getting more and more weird nowadays, at first of course everyone disregarded them but now they get more and more power (still at 13% though, but the first party has only ~29% so they are getting there...)

And it's true about the police force, they are their biggest voters apparently. Nice to think the police is getting full of crypto-fascists. They are not so afraid to say so here, but I guess in america, like you described, they might be close to fascism while branding it patriotism. And the worse thing? The current government's response (right wing) to this trend has been to give more power to the police in an effort to show golden dawn's voters that they care about illegal immigrants, stopping peaceful left-wing marches, cracking down on those "filthy" (as they love to call them, even ministers) anarchist communes etc. and hope to get some of the lost votes back.

Fun stuff all around. Especially all the happenings during and after the arrests in Boston. By the way did you see those conspiracy theories about the bombings and how a mercenary organisation sort of set it up? Seemed kinda extreme but I wouldn't doubt someone in a high place thinking that a few casualties would be worth to check people's response to a police state, even for only a few days. Will try to find the link...

Ya I glanced at a few of the conspiracy theories. It is indeed weird that there were a couple PMC dudes hanging out near the finish line, though if they were up to something shady would they be wearing hats advertising them as PMC?

Honestly I don't know what to think, I don't really trust anything the media puts out at all, and governments historically have frequently staged false flag operations or "let things happen" to produce a result desired by TPTB.

So of course I don't think the US government is above that sort of thing, but frankly I kinda feel like it's impossible to really know the truth behind anything of this nature.

Change the uniforms and this could've been a patrol in downtown Bagdhad a few years ago.

Equally disturbing is how we had a number of politicians calling for the suspect to be tried as an "enemy combatant", despite being a US citizen and, you know, not in a warzone. The "enemy combatant" term is already ridiculously euphemistic (just a clever way to avoid having to treat captured men as POWs), but to then attempt to apply that label to this guy in an attempt to deny him his right to due process? Pretty insane.

On a completely unrelated note, I hadn't been too psyched about this Oculus rift thing coming out in the future, since those kinds of devices usually turn out gimmicky IMO, but this article changed my mind a good bit. I probably still won't get one though since I'm not sure I want to depart from reality that completely right now ;). Maybe when I'm retired 40 years from now and can't do anything else:

So I smashed my mouse on the ground after the countless times of refusing to work while playing a game and now the buttons don't work. Luckely I still have a ball mouse and holy **** it's so smooth. Is it just me or are ball mice smoother than optical ones?
