He didn't deliberately abandon ship - whilst helping passengers he slipped and fell into a lifeboat.

Yeah, because of all those passengers that are rallying behind him saying that is what happened. Oh wait, no they are not :D

While it is possible, it seems highly unlikely that is what happened.

I would discuss it more, but I have to go help my kids because the dog just ate their homework. Hey, wait a minute. We don't have a dog...

In Czech I once had a student of mine tell me that his dog had eaten his homework. When I laughed, he proceeded to hand me a sheet of paper with an English composition on it, all covered in doggy teethmarks and saliva stains.

:D

I've had a dog imprint his pawprints once to my homework long time ago as I had odd habit of doing on the floor long time ago. Cue late autumn and no matter how you tried to clean those paws they always had some dirt on them, fastforward few minutes and you can guess the rest.

At least I had nice proof though as the muddy paws across the spread were more than noticable. :p

I love how sensible germans are about ww2. In some german gaming forum I sometimes visit there's a thread about some german green party politician(who is actually iranian and has both citizenships) criticizing there being an article about rommel(his birthday was recently afaik) in some Bundeswehr newspaper and appearantly there's a street and a youth hostel named after him as well. 20% of the forum members argue with sense, the other 80% are like OMG ROMMEL WAR CRIMINAL.

It really seems that most german pseudo-intellectuals are completely indoctrinated far left-wing clowns. I mean obviously you might discuss about the naming a street after him(well I guess that happened many years ago) thing. That is certainly a greyzone. But calling him a war criminal only because he was a Wehrmacht general?

It's worth noting that he did attempt to assassinate Hitler. Also, to the best of my knowledge, not only was he personally never implicated in any war crimes, no troops serving under his command were ever implicated either.

If he hadn't been forced into suicide, its very likely that he would have been one of the leading architects of a post-war Germany. He certainly would have been in command of the Bundeswehr, at a minimum.

here to kill your monster
Then he went with a cab to the nearby town in order to find some dry socks.

It's that kind of presence of mind and coolness under pressure that separates professionals like Captain Schettino from the panicking rabble on the capsizing ship.
Perhaps If there were a few more Italians of this calibre during WW2, Rommel wouldn't have been needed in North Africa.

Rommel wanted to try Hitler in a court of law, not kill him, but he sort of idly supported the conspiracy by not blowing the whistle on it. He was rather non-committal in that department.

But yeah, Rommel went out of his way to stick up for POWs and civilians in occupied territory. He ever at one point wrote a letter of protest to Hitler concerning SS conduct in northern Italy, which wasn't received very well. The man was a class act all the way.

Has anyone here got any experience with the HD Hero 2 videocamera?
If so, what did you think of it? I'm looking into buying it, but since I'm out of a job and i'm kind of wanting to save up for travelling (though the camera would be used during said travelling) i'm in doubt :p

huge university exam on friday (60% knock-out rate), been learning hard for two weeks now

Man, I went out this weekend and I had so much fun with random girls and well, let's just say I didn't go the toilet alone. I got the number of 5 different women. I love alcohol soo much, we all got drunk and I ended up in a hotelroom with 3 girls and we all kinds of sexual related things.
Also I'm lying.
