When you hit somebody? No matter how far away you are from said person you always hear it. Like the hit markers in CoD or BF but without the actual marker. It just gives you a noise so you know that you hit them.

Kind of "eh" to me. As since we are forced to use iron sights in order to shoot properly and have delayed/no death messages, it just doesn't seem to fit in right.

For the head shots "ding" noise off the helmet I'm ok with, but the little noise just kind of ticks me off especially since this game was not supposed to drag any CoD style stuff inside of it.

I've talked about this with some former clanmates. I actually suspect it IS meant as a "hit marker". They couldn't have the COD/BF-style "cross" without having people grab torches and pitchforks, so they did this.

I refuse to believe that this is some sort of bug (as far as I can tell, all other sounds are the correct volume), or that TWI never noticed the absurd distance you can hear hits from (you can shoot people at the church from the town hall in Spartanovka and clearly hear the sound of flesh being perforated. Same goes for MGing people from Univermag all the way to the first Russian capture point in FallenFighters, which is a 190-230m shot).

So I think this is TWI's "clever" way to have hitsounds/hitmarks in the game without actually having a visual cue. Considering all the concessions that have been made to accessibility in RO2, it would actually be a pretty minor one in the grand scheme of things.

I also find it funny how sometimes when you shoot someone their corpse jumps up into the air. It's weird especially when their prone, giving away the kill.

It is a hit marker, yes. The thing should go, at least as far as realistic mode is concerned.

I know it's not at all realistic to hear that sound across Fallen Fighters, but I gotta say I do love hearing it :) It does make it just that little bit more rewarding as I mow down Germans with my trusty DP-28.

Is this sound suppressed when playing on realism servers? Because if I'm honest - I don't even notice it happening. I split my time between long distance and shorter ranges, usually with bolts or semi rifles - but I just don't seem to hear this sound. Maybe it's not playing, maybe I'm just "in the zone" too much and focusing on the rounds landing close to me? No idea :)

This is just unpredictable rag doll physics...sometimes ragdolls collide or clip with the environment in ways that cause very strange reactions.

I posted about this a while ago Yoshiro (I think, anyways someone from TWI...) said it was a bug but not a priority to fix.

This is actually way down on the list of things I care about.

There is a pavlovian satisfaction when you hear the sound, and it doesn't change gameplay that much, since you still can't tell whether you killed someone or just winged them.

Maybe when everything else is fixed it will be an issue, but as far as I'm concerned it should be one of the last things on the list.

Like seriously, when the hull MG ai has made it so the majority of servers that are left have switched off tanking, you've got to wonder why bring up small stuff like this.

If it's a bug, lets hope it's fixed. However, I'm pretty glad it's not a priority, there's quite some more stuff to be fixed before worrying about small details as this. :)

I seem to recall that it was confirmed to be a bug as well, though I can't find the exact post. Let's not jump to conclusions too quickly, people.

Because TWI wants RO2 to be like CoD apparently. Why else would there be lousy hitboxes, the hit marking sound, the bad english voice overs, and tiny run and gun maps?
