I have been making my own materials lately and took a few textures from a website people recommended but some of them fail to import? I tried reconverting the images from jpeg to bmp to see if maybe the image was corrupted but nothing seems to work. I really need some of these files, any input on this? It seems as if some import and other don't.

it could be because the size isnt right it has to be the power of 2 (8, 16, 32, 64,128,256 512 1024, 2048)

also try saving the image as a TGA file

what he said, or I usually import my textures as png and works all the time just gotta be sure the size of the image is a power of 2 otherwise UDK will complain about that

Does it provide an error message or something it may help

textures in all game engines need to be multiples of 2 (1024x1024, 2048x2048, 512x512 ect..). Also the file type you should always use is TGA

Yes, that was the problem thanks. I just had to increase the size. Trying to relearn this system after taking a 6 year break really sucks :(

I know it's solved, but just adding a quick tip here.. something to keep in mind, I've had problems in the past importing images from source folders that contained spaces in the path.. avoid that.

Thanks again for all the help. I am sticking to a few of my home made textures and using the ones the editor came with for the rest right now. I'm slowly figuring out what is new, like the static meshes which are fan damn tastic when dealing with sandbags and barbed wire.

I keep getting error messages. Here's my process: select something from cgtextures>save as jpeg>open file with paint>properties>change size to 1024x1024>save as .png>open in SDK>go to generic browser>import>select file>yes to all>cannot import>fail
