Big Tex, a 52ft (16m) tall cowboy who watched over the
Texas State Fair for 60 years, has been destroyed by a fire.

The flames quickly engulfed Big Tex's structure, leaving behind little more
than a charred metal frame.

He was famed for his 75-gallon (283-litre) hat and 50lb (23kg) belt buckle,
and was a popular meeting-spot for fairgoers.

A famous piece of Americana destroyed, but they said they will build a new version of him.
