Word to the wise: the first game was ported really badly to the PC, and has seen no post release support worth mention, despite having a fatal gamebreaking bug that could have been easilly fixed..

So if you're thinking of getting the sequal for your PC, just keep in mind that they may not do any better with it than they did the first one, and if you have a Console, you might want to get it for that instead.

Uhh how was it ported really badly? The game had me hooked for like 30hours, prior to when my savegames were corrupted(which is probably the bug you mean).

Yep, that is exactly the bug, but it wont just corrupt your save files, it will also eventually start crashing the game, and then eventually prevent it from running at all.

And it was a stupid little oversight that caused it, a simple logfile that is added to every time you play, and which grows uncontrollably untill it makes the game unstable, it took users all of 10 minutes to come up with a fix, a simple Batch file that deletes that stupid logfile every time you launch the game, so simple, and yet Atari/Eden coulden't be bothered putting it in a micro patch? it could not have taken more than an houer to rewrite the exe to delete that log on launch and release it as a patch, but they just haven't bothered..

But that's hardly the only problem, the game is poorly optimized for many vid-cards, it's pretty interesting that the game will run great on a low end 7 series GeForce, but is allmost unplayable on a high-end 8 series, and nothing was ever done about that, and many other bugs plague it, like digital gauges not working on the PC, and the directional sound system barely working at all, in many cars you can't hear anything if you look backwards, and many other car sounds are badly distorted, and a host of other issues that only exist on the PC version.

It was a very good game, we can agree on that much, but it was a bad PC port, ripe with problems that Atari/Eden has not bothered to fix, ergo, i dare say their track record with their PC ports warrents caution (but if you own a Console, just get it for that instead, as i'm sure it will be a fun game for 360/PS3).

No FWD again?

No FWD again?

What really bothered me in TDU1 is that there were no front-wheel drive sporties(or I havent found any). It is a real alarm that something is missing in the core physics engine, and at that point, a real put off for me. Does anybody know whats the situation with the TDU2?

Hmm, always thought the Alfa Romeo Brera was FWD, but it turns out the high powered version, und thus the verion in game is actually 4WD.

But still, why on earth would anyone want to drive a FWD shopping trolley in a racing game? (not that that excuses physics flaws btw. but then TDU doesn't really have one of those, does it?)

You could say TDU has really nice drivable physics that are even nicer when you unlock hardcore mode, but I keep wondering:

1. They exclude FWD cars because they didn't manage to make satisfying all-rounded physics engine

or

2. FWD cars are out because they didn't feel FWD would be suitable?

If number 1 is the truth than the devs were kind of cheap IMO.

As far as I understood, they are adding offroad racing to TDU2 and maybe some other classes so now they haven't got an excuse to leave out the FWD cars.

Even though it don't cross my mind right away(because RWD/4WD really is best for racing), I'm pretty sure that there are some high class FWD cars.
