Hi all,

Just trying to setup some terrain layers using textures from the package ENV_Landscape, but for some reason I am unable to get any of them appearings as a layer.

If I select one (grass_dead_001_d for example) and then goto my Terrain Info object > Terrain > Layers - add a layer and then click 'use selected object...' in layer 1 'setup' property, nothing happens

What am I doing wrong?

Ive done a few terrain based maps for UT in recent years, but expect Im forgetting something.

Any help appreciated.

EDIT : I think I need to use materials.....just need to find where the materials for those textures live so I can try it.

Can't get mats to load either

Can someone point me at a package / material that they are using in a terrain layer that works for them please so I can try it :p

EDIT: For some reason, all materials are just showing black boxes in my content browser...

Try this tip from Six_Ten:

In your own assets package, create a new material and open its material editor.

Open the mat editor of the cooked shader you wish to copy. Box-select all the nodes, press ctrl-c.

Back in your new material editor, press ctrl-v. Size the windows for both your material and the original so you can see them, hook up the nodes you just pasted to match the original. Modify to suit.

Also, I think there was a post regarding this a few months back. You have to do something extra to get the thumbnails to load but I can't remember what it is.

@ Lord Gleedo-you have to turn the textures into materials in order to use them in your terrain. Check out the Unreal tutorials on Epic's website. They are priceless and will have you getting results by this evening. Well worth the time.

You need to have the following setup:

Terrain Layer --> Terrain Setup Layer --> Terrain Material --> Your Grass Material

Don't use Ogledow as an example, I'm doing something weird with it. You'll be better off studying one of TW's stock terrains. Open Spartanovka and look at it's terrain and corresponding materials.
