There's too much to read, and too little time, but I looked. And this is my opinion.

Dang, now I gotta remove some crap on my tiny HDD to reinstall TF2, me likeh updates.

I agree, Valve made a very good choice, both business and gamer wise. (Plus the I payed 20 bucks for !$$^ is easily settled by reading the FAQ, which in fact, makes you feel more better because the F2P accounts are limited, short but noticable)

Valve keeps things going like TWI does...well spent money for both Devs.

the best part being that the first few pages predict a complete flop that will suck horribly, and instead urge the game to go with a style that would have likely reduced it's appeal.

Didn't Portal 2 top that list a little while after it's release? It wasn't that long ago .

in a nutshell-

Q. How do I convert my free account to a premium account?
Make any purchase of any amount in the in-game Mann Co. store.

still, I'm reasonably happy cos my kid can now play tf2 while i play another steam game.
however - I'd rather move my (now his) 'premier' account to his steam account as it mostly his playtime and achievements.
