Tanks break fences/push down trees

:D How about Tanks not getting stopped by a sweet wrapper? Make some of the map objects destructable (fences, walls, buildings) so a 20 ton tank doesnt grind to a halt when it hits a sapling that a mild breeze could blow over... same with the flimsy wooden fences. Apart from that, GREAT GAME!:D

Ya i hate when im going at a good 30km and then i hit a correner of a fence and i just stop. Tanks should be able to push over trees, break fences, and crush thoses wodden bridges

Once again, its impossible with the current engine. And I dont think alot of you would like stopping your tank just to see a fence or a tree going through the driver's seat.

I'd rather have a fence sticking through a tank than not being able to go over it.

we already got vegetation do that. Nobody complains, just blame it on engine limitation.

Why not just make it a destructable object, like in stalingrad where a satchel can blow those walls. If tanks are able to deal damage to infantry (when they get run over by it), then why not deal damage to destructable walls etc.

I think it would be a good idea if the tanks can

-Break fences
-Drive through houses
-Break those wodden bridges
-Run over trees

But i know there is so many limitations with the engine.

This was done with the old Quake 3 engine in Call of Duty: United Offensive. The trees were knocked down when you ran over them. It surely could be done with the Unreal 2.5 Engine, because in COD UO it had nothing to do with object physics, which I am guessing is why you guys think it can't be done in this game engine. It was like he said above, a door opening and closing.

It was scripted and it took a very long time to complete it I heard...

It wasn't scripted: entirely dependent on the player's actions.


Just load up a multiplayer game of CoD:UO and watch people in the tanks, they will knock trees over.

the short term fix on this is to make these objects non-collidable to tanks only.

remember, in the mod they had no access to the engine..

now that they have full access to the engine and the code,

there is absolutely nothing they cannot accomplish (if they tell you otherwise they are lying and/or lazy), its only a matter of how much time vs how much return you get.

from a lot of the talking on the forums, it appears the tank/vehicle portion of hte game needs the most love..

but how much are they really going to do in patches or even at all?


i'm pretty sure what we are asking for would require quite a bit of their time and effort and judging by how little they changed from mod to retail, i wouldn't hold my breathe on getting any of these things fixed..

just my 2cents, but that is just how the retail game works and probably always will work..

I never played the mod...and I guess I'm kind of glad, because it's a totally new game for me. This problem won't get fixed though like you said, even though it is possible. Oh well I guess my tank will just have to get stuck on a "sweet wrapper".

I too would like to see tanks be able to do this. However, if tanks could smash through everything, I can be completely sure that many "interesting" players would spam the servers by simply destroying everything but the enemy with the tanks.
