Why is it when firing at vertical surfaces you get vertical spouts of dust?

It looks really lame when shooting at buildings and through windows and even tanks.

also there is not much difference between the HE shell and the AT shells , HE shells explode on contact with things

Tanks are not priority for TWI, tbh i don't think that they even care about them...

Considering that the existing content of the game is not yet fully working, I can fully imagine that they don't take tanks as the biggest priority. Red Orchestra wasn't just tank warfare either. The game has always been about creating an immersive WW2 game, and yes tanks do contribute to that a lot.

And that's why they do care about tanks, it's not a secret that it's the only game I know of with such detailed interiors. They said they needed much more time to create a single tank in RO2 than the time needed in RO1. Why would they invest so much time in adding all those tiny details if they didn't intend on creating a good experience?

Red Orchestra 1 also had limited tank maps at release, but those all got modded in, and now that the SDK of RO2 is out we should be seeing some nice new maps in the near future.

The "detailed interior" is a perfect example of why they don't care about tanks. It seems they grabbed the first interior (Ausf. A) they could find and dumped it inside an Ausf. F2 without regard to version. Like I mentioned here:

That is the thing. There are no tiny details. For example, the driver's (and commander's) basic view slit can not be opened/closed in game:

Other details such as gears, pistol ports, lighting (interior, optic, and exterior lights), the standard open sight, and smoke dispensers do not even exist in game:

You make it sound like Red Orchestra 2 is a tank simulator, you pretty much focus on tiny details while completely neglecting everything that they've done right.

Especially considering that there's still quite a few things concerning tanks that will be added later on into the game, there is no real reason to presume that they are not motivated to make the tank warfare enjoyable.

Exactly the pessimism I would expect, apparantly you don't care for how they animated you switching seats when a crewmember gets killed, how you can see the loader load the shell.

Instead you would rather focus on how the viewports don't exactly look like the model used in that time. What are you actually trying to accomplish, just trying to disprove me or are you actually going to make your point?

Ah, time to take on the famous Rommel!

They're developers, not part-time tank-specific historians. Compared to virtually every ww2 game developer ever they're extremely accurate.

They care more about making the game than making the tiny details perfect. The game would still be in alpha if they had attained flawless authenticity!

It's very unfortunate that you know all this Rommel, because even most people who consider themselves WW2 experts can't point out the mistakes you can. Does it really kill the game for you? Can you not bear to pretend you're in some kind of special upgraded P4ausfA?

It seems like the guy who got out - possibly the commander - makes it behind the building. Although, the shaking of the camera at that point could be a recoil effect from a nearby MG - I didn't see bullets hitting the ground near him, but it's shaky at that point. Once he was out of the tank, he was virtually no threat since he was up against a US tank and probably multiple US infantry, and appeared to be unarmed except for maybe a sidearm. Also, is this Berlin? I can't tell I'm afraid - but if it was, we're talking 1945 - if they could have captured him alive, they probably would have at that stage. The game was pretty much up, after all.

It's an excellent piece of footage, but still a bit spooky for my liking :) heh. It means nothing when it's a film/movie, but once you're watching actual footage of an almost complete tank crew being taken out... *shiver*

Wow... thanks for posting that :) The original is now a little less spooky, since all of the Panther crew seem to have survived. Based on the tracer fire, infantry actually fired at least one shot at the escaping crew - that disappoints me, given the situation they were in :) I guess in a live battle situation, you never really know how you'd react until it happens.
