Armchair General has an article on RO , focused on tank combat only. He only likes tanks, and judging from the text, this guy doesnt even play combined arms maps:

The hull machine gunner is simply chrome, and has little practical or "fun" value on most maps since there are no infantry to speak of and he can do nothing but observe during armor duels

Still, nice to see someone really into RO tanks :)

But he does not share my thoughts on what makes RO great in any way. He says he likes teamwork, but almost every suggestion he has makes it a lone wolfs came.

I like how he doesn't even mention angling the tank when firing. The screenshot of "hull down" shows a panther with the front armor facing the enemy. And angled up no less, so the turret can't elevate down far enough to hit oncoming enemies. Brilliant.

Require an invite to join a tank. "Joe-Loser wishes to board your tank. Unlock? Y/N." I hate to sound selfish, but if I want to play the game as a Lone Wolf I should have that option. This would also help friends keep 3rd parties out of their tanks.

This isn't a bad idea actually. Maybe as a server setting?

Wow. I'm impressed. I actually disagree with just about everything in that article. Ok, he does give some good advice (of the bloody obvious sort), but also a hell of a lot of bad advice.

Hull mg useless? Err, ok I'd probably not bother with three people in a tank on Arad or Ogledow, but on maps like Konigsplatz the hull mg can be deadly as hell... and if you're only two people in the tank the mg is a good way for the driver to do something useful while the tank is parked.

No need for adjusting the sighting range? Did the guy even read the f****** manual? Ok, I'd love to see this guy go up against someone who knows how to estimate range properly. Using this method, you should be able to zero in on almost any tank at any range by the second shot. Yeah. And judging range properly, a good gunner will be able to score first round hits against you from 7-800 meters. Good luck going up against an experienced tank crew.

Angling your tank to maximize the effectiveness of your armour? I guess he's never heard of that.

And I do hope the developers do not take his suggestions for "improvements" seriously. *shudder* Yeah, smoke canisters for tanks that actually had them would be neat, and the devs are already looking at infantry riding on tanks. Other than that, I hope his suggestions are consigned to the refuse bin where they belong.
