To make things more workable on hilly terrain, it would be great if we could have at least 2 gears - Low and High.
I know real tanks have a lot more, but I think this would be a good compromise - tie it to the crouch key.
Obviously the low gear gives lower speed, but lets you climb steaper hills. High gear would be great for the flat ground, and give you a higher speed.
You could be fancy, and accelerate at low gear first, or make it an "automatic" transmission.
If you go for multiple gears, you can switch using the jump for upshift and crouch or prone for downshift.
