Well from many of the reviews we've seen it looks like there is at least a beta version being tested , is it far enough along that we have any better idea on system requiremennts ?
am I going to be ok with,....

AMD 7750 Duel Core@ 2700Mhz
4 GB ram
Nvidia GTS250 1GB
Win 7 64
onboard audio

or what should I be upgrading?
Surely someone must have an idea by now.....

if your mobo is am2+ should also support the phenom x4 and x6,I would go with the AMD x6 1090 unlocked,Preice will drop to 150-160 by the time bulldozer comes out,and get your self 6950 2gb which by that time should be around 200-220 $....

You probably won't be able to play with everything at maximum detail.
It depends a lot on your resolution, but above all the processor is outdated, if your board is AM2+ you could be able to use a Phenom II/Athlon II.

ok the motherboard is an asus M3A78
I found the old invoice so heres what I have to work with

Asus M3A78 (can run up to Phenom 2 940)
AMD Athlon x2 7750 Black Edition
2 x 2GB DDR2 800Mhz
Seagate 500GB Sata
On Board Audio
MSI Nvidia GTS 250 1GB PCI Express
Corsair TX 750w Power Supply
Windows 7 64

Im not very good at this & will be taking it to a shop , So I will have to rely on thier advice
I would be willing to spend around 500 Canadian , hopefully I wont need a complete new system
Assuming my mobo can accept it...
Would I Notice the difference between Quad & 6 core ? What is more important? to have more cores or to have
them running at faster speed?
Video,...I have always preferred nvidia & have had a smoother time with thier drivers,...
I probably cant affrd top of the line , but maybe one or two below ,..Im not up on whats current
What would anyone reccomend in my price range that will run HOS & current games with most of the eye candy...
Also I have wondered , will it take a little load off the cpu if I get a dedicated sound card? or will I not see a difference?
my current resolution is usually just 1024x768 only ,...Im on an old glass monitor ...

I have been trying to look at forums & learn but its all confusing to me...
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx...T&id=20100920232126996&page=1&SLanguage=en-us
Any suugestions on video cards & processors appreciated , I want to be able to go into the shop
& understand if they are selling me what I really need

If you are playing at 1024x768 you would only need a better processor(90-100 $ and you get an athlon x4), or even your processor is ok...

I don't think so. 4 would be enough.

Speed for games... once you have a quad.
Video...
Honesly, i would wait till HOS is out then get a card. Why buy something that wont be put to use right now. Beside, prices will go down and AMD and NVid may have a refresh that you will want or push the price down for the card you can afford.

Also I have wondered , will it take a little load off the cpu if I get a dedicated sound card? or will I not see a difference?
A lot of new games dont even off load the sound to the card any more(BC2). And if you do get a new CPU I don't think it would be more then a % or 2 of cpu usage anyway. If you are happy with the sound stick with the on board. But i do have to say a ded card will sound better.

my current resolution is usually just 1024x768 only ,...Im on an old glass monitor ...
BAH! I think your pc is over kill for that res.

I would wait until the game is out and see how it runs your resolution doesn't seem like it would have a hard time running the game with what you have. I would go with Monitor,Video card>cpu. I bet you could get a nice monitor and video card for 500~ that would improve your experience much more then a cpu ever will.

Ok some good advice , I will wait until we have more solid info on sys requirements
but Im trying to get an idea of how much i should be setting aside , If I can do it cheap enough I may get a new monitor as well ,..I just never got around to it , the only ones i looked at was when they first came out & all had bad response times & blurring so i said forget it & havent thought about it since
one local shop responded with this quote

"I have two options for you. For $125 we have a Phenom II 940 gently used, it's all you really need besides a better video card for todays big titles like Starcraft II and COD Black Ops, Battlefield Bad company 2. I would suggest either the nvidia GTX470 or the Radeon 6870.
for $299

Or

AMD Phenom II 965BE
Asus M4A89GTD Pro/USB3
GTX470 or Radeon 6870
$525 with trade in of your old parts"

again Im not sure the release date Im thinking sometime in the spring
so best to wait & Im really not up On whats current so I dont know how fair those prices are...or if thats what I should be getting...

Standing behind you
UE 3 loves multi core computers as well as a decent video card. Ram is a bit less iffy, but around 2 gigs.

For something that will run UT 3 fairly great I had a core 2 duo e6600 (2.3 or something), and a geforce 8800 GT 512 on 2 to 4 gigs of ram.

Now final specs of ROHOS are nowhere near complete.

That's reassuring, I have nearly identical specs. I think I should be able to scrape by with RO2, I can avoid upgrading my PC for at least another year :D

Hey guys, (sorry I know this is an older thread)

I'm looking at upgrading and was wondering which Processor will last in the gaming world longer.

the i7 http://www.newegg.com/Produc/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115071

or the Phenom II X6 1055T http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103851

any ideas?

In next 2 weeks I going to buy Sandy Bridge. 2500k or 2600k model is that what are you looking for. It's overclocking beast, with air cooling system it goes up to 5Ghz+. It's cheaper than 1366 i7s.

And when TWI says "heavily modified", they mean it. KF is more demanding that the UT 2.5 its built on, partially because of all the particle emitters and such TWI use to get the look they want.

I wouldn't, that game is almost four years old.

And a lot of physics.

But considering an 8800 can max out UT3 fine with a decent dual/quad core CPU, I think it is safe to say that something like a GTX260 + Q6600/AMD9950 should run it well.

If you are upgrading juts for RO2, then just wait until the game comes out. By then the prices will probably be cheaper to. :)

I figure I'll be able to run this very smoothly on this rig, since TWI says the game loves multi-cores.

Just like Apos said, get Sandy Bridge. 2500k or 2600k. I have 1055T, it's a good CPU and I have it OC'd @ 3,5 GHz with Thermalright Silver Arrow fan, but Sandy Bridge is much better performance wise and costs only 20 bucks more.

Have the upgrade itch myself but I am going to wait until I play it before drop some money. Never know could run great on what I have now(keeps epenis in pants). The 2600k do look nice and a SDD would be cool.

I've personally used this guesstimate: If you can run ArmA2 reasonably, you can probably run RO2 in similiar fashion. It would be worthy of a medal if TWI would manage to create a game that's heavier than ArmA2 :p

Arma 2 fails so hard in optimization its ridiculous..
I think Bohemia should start over with a new engine, it feels like that engine has become a complete cluster ****.
