Besides, It's not like anyone was allowed to surrender IRL. Soviet officers shot fleeing soldiers on sight. Germans probably did the same.

Just reminded me of the level in CoD 2 where you trap the Germans in a tall building, and they barricade them from the second floor up.

Soldier asks : Should we ask them to surrender comerade?

-I'll ask them once I've blown them to hell.

That's how you negociate with fascists.

I thought that even if a person in the Red Army was captured, there were considered a traitor and they were killed if they were ever seen again?

I believe you would be thrown in a penal company.

Surrendering is only something done to end a battle.

If one or two enemy appear to surrender while the rest continue fighting then I think it highly unlikely they would be allowed to live.

If I was in that situation, then I think I'd have to kill them to continue to feel safe.

also the soviets killed all there soidlers who were taken prsioner after the war when the Germans returned them. so why am i surrendering again?

see basically war is a nasty thing and surrendering isn't this ideal thing. you especially if you were on the eastern front from what i heard id kill my self first before i was taken prisoner on either side. :D because the ss wasn't a great alternative either.

Why surrender? You'd most likely be executed on the spot because your on the front line. Why waste resources on getting prisoners off the front? "Shoot 'em in a ditch"

I think surrendering to either side in this situation would be a very bad choice. In-game it just seems pointless, I would shoot whoever surrendered just because it's too much work to deal with guarding or escorting them back to prison. I'm pretty sure it Stalingrad, it was generally a "take no prisoners" conflict.

Honestly, what fun is that to be taken prisoner? I rather just die and spawn in and fight; instead of walking around aimlessly with the enemy. Also, the odds are 99/100 player will likely just plow through you.

Pretty much all my best moments have been when I've been surrounded 10-1 and outgunned lol. Not to mention the sheer boredom of being "captured".

Sorry this would never work in a shooter.

And if someone else "Raised the white flag" I'd just take the opportunity to shoot him :D.

I remember the glory days of RnL when RPer noobs would "surrender"

I remember I'd come up on groups of people holding hostages, and I'd promptly mow down everybody (including the guy taking the POWs) with my Thomson. I cannot stand for such insubordination in my squad! :p

Lol that's classic. I can't believe people would actually go along with that. Was it a built in game mechanic or were they just "roleplaying?"

I'd rather roleplay the suicidal fanatic personally but hey that's just me .

You would not need a special whatnot white-flag system if the game had 3D voip. With positional audio you could just try to surrender by yelling "don't shoot" and ur fate would be on the hands of the enemy. Like many said it is possible, and ppl do it often, in RnL.

I as well kill anyone trying to surrender (they usually are holding a nade in the hand, tricky bastards) or if I see a POW near our cap zones cos holding POWs in our cap zone spawn blocks our whole team. + it takes too much effort to guard a POW, unless the map is made POWs in mind, like rnl_stannum (props for Snuffel!) that had locked cells which were out side of cap zones.

Ps. try circumventing 3D voip surrendering with a 3rd party voip program. Yes, exactly.
