The one thing that completely ruins this game (which I was looking forward to) for me is the black and white suppression filter.

I don't care if you call it "balancing" it's not an excuse to add horrible immersion-breaking filters on top of everything. Plus it's far too sensitive, even blurring would be fine - but black and white? Why?

Even when a distant explosion goes off, you feel a slight rumble and everything suddenly desaturates. I have no idea why this feature was added, it doesn't even make the game harder so how can it be balancing? You can still aim and shoot in black and white - all it does is ruin the player's immersion.

I hope a dev sees this, they're doing fantastic work but for the love of god fix the black and white filter - or at least let us turn it off in the video options.

To me it's completely broken and I wish they'd remove the entire system including visual/physical effects.

So many times there are some bullets whizzing overhead (not aimed at me) and I get suppressed. Nobody knows I'm here. I'm perfectly fine, not worried about getting shot, yet somehow the game's telling me I'm suppressed.

It seems as if it's buggy too, with it happening through certain walls.

Getting suppressed is scary, this game is aimed at realism, and we arn't fearless cyber-soldiers, we're conscripted young men who are afraid of getting shot.

While the visual effect of suppression is debatable the suppression mechanic is needed to force your keep down is needed, to remind you're a human being and shouldn't stand tall when bullets are flying. Otherwise nobody would be keeping their heads down while under fire. I think that artillery suppression should be different though - instead of making it "suppression fire" style make screen itself move as if avatar is being thrown off balance by shaking ground.

I think desaturation effect came up as an idea to show player that he's very close to death and should be more careful. I remember some games using desaturation effect as post-death or close-to-death effect. Still, I must confess this is keeping my head down really effectively.

Do you need to be shot before you want to be suppressed?
In the grand age of video gaming, you, as a player don't feel the same need for staying alive. You can always spawn in 30s. But in this game, you have to be forced to feel that way, and I think a suppression this way is a good thing.
You kind of get locked in your fear that you would lose your life and that'd be it. Bullets don't have to hit 3m from you before you wanna go down. You fear that little chance that it might actually hit you.
The game is sort of the player model's point of view and it's his tale, not yours. If that even makes any sense :/

My point was that in real life things don't suddenly become black and white.

What's the point in the black and white crap? Can't they just stick with ringing in your ears and blurrier vision if you get shell-shocked?

Why would the rumble of an explosion cause your vision to go black and white? It's just a stupid and unrealistic annoyance. Not even balancing. In real life you hear a bullet snap or whizz past you - you can also lose your hearing but your colour vision doesn't suddenly disappear :|

Yeah I agree with that the suppression effect is very bad and + hurt the eyes (not joke seriously:()

I think the better way would to keep same effect like in RO2 : HOS :)

The suppression mechanic is good, the black and white part is less good.
Maybe the devs thought "if it's black and white, you can't easily tell friend from foe." but they've all got totally different helmets and gear, so it doesn't really work that way.

I love supression, and it needs to stay, but I'm not too fond of the black and white-thingy, I much prefer how it worked and looked in the original RO, better this than nothing though.

Yeah I guess I should've highlighted in my original post that i'm not against suppression, it's the black and white screen that is really annoying and unrealistic.

I wish we could get some dev input on this. Why it was done, and what could be done differently.
