I actually kind of like the idea of different weather times on the same map. It would do a lot to change-up gameplay, and help maps from feeling stale. The problems with this though are that the devs would have to make several versions of the same map in order to change-up the weather/time-of-day system. This would be a lot of work (at least I assume it would be), but it's still an intriguing idea to play around with.

UE 3 doesn't support fully dynamic lighting (well it does but it's performance heavy and looks like crap) by default. The newest builds of UE 3 use Lightmass which calculates a global illumination solution and bakes them as static lightmaps. And calculating the lighting can take many hours depending on the level

So basically changing the time of day isn't possible.

And personally I don't like ArmA missions, and in my opinion modern warfare is completely different from WW 2, especially if you think of Stalingrad.

i like the general idea of having the possibility to choose any weather conditions and daytime on a map, but i guess being able to have a vote on each parameter would get a little confusing.
i dont think you should add civilians in RO:HOS, simply because this game "portrays" (oh, yes """""!) the battle of stalingrad and i dont think portraying what happened to the people who were still in the city isn't something to be covered by an fps-game. all "authencitiy"-bs aside.
the only animals, that i think could have an impact on gameplay, should be dead horses and dogs, which give you +5hp if you eat 'em...

i really wonder what we have to expect from ro:hos. some people seem to think of large scale tank battles (judging from most of your suggestions, too). how close to the city did tank engagements take place?

You have to remember, that RO is a realism based shooter.

Not a full on simulator that accurately tries to represent proper size battles like ArmA.

Considering the series is about player VS player, 500 bots would be too much. Also, I doubt there are many people who have PCs that would be able to keep up with it.

Same with their internet.

My favourite were:

- Would it be possible to modify parameters of the hour of attack/defense (in the daytime or night) by a voting system in the beginning of part? why not in the clear day or night or rain time?

- To move respawns of the reinforcements following the progress of the vehicles of infantry?

- To take advantage of the same map several kilometers (ideally) but with totally different objectives to see adjustable in the beginning of part with votes?

- To add natural elements kind : animals, civils, with an AI?

- To develop the time/weather with the duration of the part ; for example : 30min of gameplay = 12 hours of evolution of the sun towards the night.

The one about the 500 odd bots could be confusing and you wouldnt know who's who. I like the fact that you play against real people (and despite how good the bots and realistic they can be made) its just not really the same. But on the other hand it would make it seem like a real awesome battle with that many people/bots on the same map (although it'd have to be a pretty big map)

A diversity in the weather and timeframe would be great! It would add a lot of realism to it and wouldnt make it seem like the same rigid map if it had these factors continually changing. i.e snowing, raining or clear and then dawn, day, dusk and night all to be rearranged.

I like the idea of a dynamic spawning and one that moves with the progress of the current battle as it can be quite annoying having to run all the way back to the front. However it will I think create quite a reckless attitude towards one's life as players will just think "oh nevermind I'm sure I'll respawn pretty close" as opposed to the feeling you get in ROOST of staying alive as long as possible and doing as much as you can as it is quite a way to run all the way back and the importance of being in the battles.

I like the concept of animals and civilians around - it too would add a lot to the realism as in most games the majority of what you see is dead - animals and people (which is true). It would nice to have animals like cows even on the outside of the map. It would be interesting to see civilians (although rare) perhaps cowering in buildings as you pass through?

Time of day

Time of day

The different times of day are 100% possible if not easy. You might even be able to set it up so that you don't have to load a whole seperate version of the map for a different time, just load the different lighting.

Weather on the other hand is definately going to require more than changing the colour of the DD light and rebuilding :p

*Edit: I meant to mention that I didn't mean dynamic changing of time of day, although this guy seems to have ideas:
