Author of the article doesnt have much information about it infact he doesnt have any information at all. He only knows stug has been found very well preserved in Demjansk and 3 months later sold in some russian auction for 1,000,000 dollars. He also says that inside were found weapons and equipment of the old crew but thats all.

Hope my brief translation helps :)

It looks like whomever parked it in the mud must've failed driver's ed.

Or, didn't notice that the damn thing was upside down!

Probably caused by artillery. There are accounts of tanks being flipped upside down by massive artillery, yet not being damaged. Lot of times they maintance section would just come out with a recovery tank, flip them back over and they'd be functional again. I guess they just forgot about this one.

It already was. It is the Czech site and a self-propelled gun have found in Russia. It was in an ideal condition. It has not sunk . It has turned over. Partially having plunged into a marshy ground. After war , land improvement there has been made. Further it simply laid in dry peat. The engine was in an ideal condition because oil has spread. Inside there were shells, documents, personal things of tankmen, the complete set. All as remains in 1943.

Further will be much worse.

Having heard about it, on it the local administration grasped it . On guys which have pulled out it have started criminal cases . Plunder of historical monuments or that like it . The local governor on the occasion of the next holiday has been shown near to it in the TV. Simultaneously they have started to plunder it on souvenirs. Having played by some time with a toy the big boss, has forgotten about it . Further it have started to plunder all to whom not laziness.
That I heard that, that on now from it there was only an empty iron box.
In Russia it is a lot of idiots. It is the fact.

It is better to go to Israel. There a lot of different iron. There a dry climate. There there is no such amount of marauders as in Russia. The Earth promised for old tanks. Africa is very perspective. In the East Europe have collected all. If something remains so in an awful condition.

I bet Africa would be ideal from a preservation standpoint, but holy hell if something got burried in the sand 60 years ago...

If I ever win a hundred million or so, I've found myself a new pasttime :)
