Stuck at connecting

Hello,
It seems that I can't connect to almost any server in Killing Floor. After clicking on the desired server which I would like to connect to using the game server browser, it just hangs there in Connecting (press F10) to cancel, server IP and few more details.
I've tried verifying game cache using the Steam client, under game properties, and unfortunately it didn't find any file corrupted or missing.
Additionally, I've had a look in the game official forums under the support forum, and people there have stated the some Steam servers download wrong game data and that causes the problem I experience, and they have provided a new System folder for the game. I've tried doing what they said but again, bad luck, problem not solved yet.
Just to make it clear, I wasn't trying to connect to one specific server all the time, I tried a lot of servers and all of them haven't worked.
Is there anything I can do to solve the issue and finally be able to play the game I've paid for?

Did you delete your whole System folder when you were attempting the downloaded fix from this forum?

your still lucky, mine was really totally blank when i query for internet games.. i tried looking for solution in this site and so far i came up with the masterserver.vdf that needs to overwrite the one in the kf system folder.. so far i haven't tried it yet..

Yes, I did delete the whole System folder.

masterserver.vdf worked like a charm for me..

are there still issues with connecting to servers?
i seem to get stuck on the index page very often and for a long time.
Also i've noticed that sometimes i can't view my perk screen , either in menu (no response) or in game (get the playerlist grey screen)
Worst thing is i haven't been getting achievements regester quite a few times - this has happened in the past and i hear can be a server issue - but last night i got the foundry suicidal one - left he server and it was up as my latest unlock - but when i restarted steam it reverted to my previous achievement and was gone.
This was obviously a bit of a pisser, as i've done foundry 3 times now.

The reason i mention this is cos i wonder if all these factors are related.

I have tried deleting sys folder and other suggested things - is there now a set reliable fix for this?

yeah now i did bedlam and got the achievement for that, but strangly didn't get the back to school one, which should have unlocked too.
This impossible situation remained the case for ten mins or so, until my account decided best to delete the bedlam achieve as it didn't make sense i guess.

Has anyone experienced this since the fire update?
I am presuming it's related to my connection problems hense i posted here rather than make a new thread.
