Just playing little bit around with story driven singleplayer
campaing.

Ya, even Tripwire have no resources to make it as animating
perfect cut scenes is so much work that it needs army of
animators.

But what if we make it ala Max Payne. Instead of cut scenes
you see well drawn graphic novel pages which roll the story
beetween levels.

or a modder could make cut scenes and an awesome call of duty style single single player campaign. :D

see my thread on this

Storyboard might be a good compromise in terms of resources for animators, but think misses out on what makes RO good. I'd like to see any attempts at a singleplayer campaign be as immersive as possible.

I'm much more interested in a "loose" narrative, that takes place in game where the player is soaking up atmosphere and random chit chat from soldiers rather than some strict story piece.

Having an indepth cutscene with lots of actions in takes a lot of work. Having something like a soldier sitting against a wall looking shell shocked, or smoking, isn't as difficult

However, I'm interested in working on any single player project that has legs. My main experience is as a mapper but I'm planning on skilling up for animation as well.

Feel free to get in to get in touch if you're interested in working on something.

comic book panels ala max payne don't fit the game. and i doubt modders have the artistic ability to pull it off decently.

simple in-game vignettes are not hard to do and can tell the story fine with some voice overs or subtitled narration and music. you don't need to go all out with complex scripted seqences like the ro2 trailer, and you don't have to settle for incongruous cartoons. there are better, more economical ways to frame a story.

use voices instead of those stupid talk bubbles. also this could be an interesting way for ro40k to tell its story if they choose to use it. as for ro2 i don't' think it will work that well.

seriously though i think it could work quite well for the 40k mod but thats just me. :)

Comic stuff works very well in Max Payne, in fact i loved it, but it just wouldn't fit with RO's atmosphere.
