I know it's not the same thing, but check how much trouble Jeremy Clarkson already has hipfiring an ak47, see 41:45.

Jeremy Clarkson's Inventions That Changed the World - (1 of 5) The Gun - YouTube

whoa, I like clarkson and all, but the first two minutes are some pretty stupid anti gun propaganda. HEY EVERYBODY LOOK, WE MADE HORRIBLE ALLEGIANCES, AND GOT DRAGGED INTO A STUPID WAR; LETS BLAME OUR STUPIDITY ON THE WEAPONS WE USED HURR DURRR.

A gun is a tool that displaces a projectile at high speeds. Whether it is used to pop holes in paper, animals, or other people is dependent on the user of that tool

*Rage off*

Now back to the MG's. How about we just let people fire the MG's from the shoulder to get the accuracy they get now, and then increase the wobble / kick on the hipfire so that it is effective at closer ranges only. this way if they want to fire the MG while moving they are moving slower...

Hip firing should be possible, but it should require a certain stance that you'd only get into by pressing ADS button, just like in RO1, where it worked.

it just means you need more practice with the ppsh. i'm the other way around. i get easier kills with ppsh, cause i have about twenty thousand with it. maybe only eight thousand with the mg. i notice i have an easier time with my most used weapon.
that mg sure is great when you want to rip through the walls and kill everyone in the other rooms of a building though!

If people are not using their CQB environment to the full of it's potential, then yes, the MG is very effective. I don't agree that it should be so effective, but in game already, properly using a smg and some times a bolt action can be more effective than going jogging and hipfiring the MG, since you become a fine exposed target that takes some time to adjust your own massive firepower on target.

See, I think what we end up coming back to is that most of the time, this simply isn't the case. At least in "realism" since a machinegunner can whip that thing around in the same time a guy with an SMG can. I've had people whirling around on stairwells with these things on grain elevator, practically doing 360s and mowing down everything in sight before i finally put a couple of SVT rounds in them from farther up. And quite frankly it looked ridiculous.

I suppose that I could pedantically point out that no, it is not right, you can't move the heavy MGs at all, but I suppose that wouldn't be useful.

Personally, I'd much rather have the PPsH than either MG if there's any close-in fighting. It's about as good for panic fire, much better for shooting at even fairly short distances (I'd give anything past 20m to the PPsH, for unbraced shooting), and quicker to reload. The fact that you can't use the ironsights on a MG unless it's deployed means the SMGs have a huge advantage in short-range firefights, and there are cases where I'd rather have a bolt-action rifle than an MG. Being able to aim is good.

I've still never seen a MG-hip-fire-rampage video that I didn't think, while watching it, that he'd be doing better with a different weapon, particularly an SMG or semi-auto rifle.

one of the reasons i like the smg in close quaters over the mg, is i really think the mg does take longer to, "swing around". i also think movement through doorways is more clunky. unless someone pulls some data from the sdk regarding that idea, i think it will just remain a matter of opinion though. i do agree it should be more unwieldy. but then again, right now, with all our close quarter maps, the mg serves little purpose, if it can't be wielded like john rambo. my favorite is trying to use one, like it should be used, in apartments. get set up, fire one burst, and whammo! someone blows your head off. (excepting the german side. thay have at least two great spots to set one up) fallen fighters is really the only map with a line of sight and the distance to make the mg's shine for both sides. of course that's my own opinion. your mileage may vary.

I agree with this , its so true. The best weapon in the stairwell battles is a heavyMG just run up there point it at there feet and let it go .I done it a number of times last night and got a few kills each time )).A idea might be to slow down the time it takes to turn with this weapon once your press the fire button on foot ,i can control it better than the pshh when unloading a clip in one burst . I wonder why they call is realism mode when its less realistic than classic , its confusing for new players .

either you didn't read the post directly above yours, or you don't agree with it and just didn't bother to say so. no point in arguing it without facts though.

it's ok. just don't let it happen again.

back on topic, as has been said plenty of times, mg's are fine as long as we make it so you cannot jog and shoot guys twenty meters away so easy. opening up on a guy five feet from you in a stairwell, is perfectly acceptable. they should be a bit more clunky indoors, in close quarters. i beleive they are worse than smgs indoors now, but need to be a bit more cumbersome.

you could just make a mut that changes the allowfire function in mg's.

basically:
if bmounted then allowfire=true
else allowfire=false

can just extend from mg34/dp28 with the allowfire change, and tell game to use modified mg's when mutator is enabled.

at least thats how i did the mg42/browning in KF.

no way. there's way to many places in the game where you should be able to mount one, but the game wont let you.:(
