Mafia II... tempting. Worth it?

Absolutely, especially if you're into the 40's and 50's type American atmosphere. I got it as a gift (the gift giver paid $40) and for the price it's at today it's a steal.

The game is crafted around an open world but the missions are very linear and you are rarely given time to free roam (gotta do it between missions when you're supposed to go back to your home). Because of that many people were thrown off when it came out when they were expecting a more GTA-esque experience. Still, the graphics are superb, the voice acting ranks among the best, the story is decent, and the art design looks like Norman Rockwell created it himself. The missions can get kinda stale as you frequently just find yourself driving people around and much of the combat is simply "kill everyone!" but it all feels rather smooth. Another complaint is that the devs/publishers/whoever took out game content to resell as one or both of those DLC's. Not that what you're getting isnt enough content but that's still horse**** nonetheless.

So all in all, the game is realistically worth 20-30usd so the 12usd pricepoint is a great deal.

For me Mafia 2 was a huge missed opportunity. This is probably due to my huge unrealistic expectations, the large time difference between games and some of the things the devs ended up stripping from the game.

However if you look at Mafia 2 on it's own it's a good on-rails 3rd person shooter with driving segements much like the first Mafia. There is almost nothing to do in the city apart from driving to each mission. I thought the voice acting and graphics were great, the story was interesting enough but it hasn't tempted me to replay it at all unlike Mafia 1 which I have played through over 10 times.

Also don't buy the adventure DLC as they are terrible, I mean the worst add on for a game I've seen in a while. A total rip off.

So what I'm trying to say is at
