4 pack of chivalry @ 75% off for me and some unsuspecting friends who have no idea what it is.

I have not yet tried it.

I got 3 copies of castle crashers at 3.78$ each

Magicka is 50% off, waiting to see if it will drop more for a day.

No idea if I am ever going to play Chivalry as I already have RO2 and specially COH2 that demands my ... < 2 hours a week of gaming :(

(also looking forward to the ROTT release.)

Prepare to get frustrated with Chivalry fir the first little while.... I gave up on it for a week when I first got it.... then I started to figure things out, get some decent kills and was hooked.

Though I've taken a break from it for the last couple of months, I've come back to play it from time to time.... it was all I played during RO2's lull before the Map Contest maps were added in.

Now all I'm playing is Skyrim with my three DLC's and tonnes of community content I added into it.

-----------------------

Yesterday I was really looking hard at Velvet Assasin as it's only $2.49 right now with a 75% discount. It looks visually impressive and some YouTube videos make it look really fun, but every review I came across seems to trash the crap out of it, saying it's very linear, not much freedom to do each level differently, buggy stealth mechanics, clumsy combat controls, etc.....

Kind of put me off on the game. Anybody here own or play this game?

Let's see, I'm up to...

Call of Juarez Gunslinger
Sleeping Dogs, a few DLC
Borderlands 2 Season Pass
Metro 2033
Alan Wake
The King's Crusade
Psychonauts (got it gifted)

Everything I've gotten so far, other than the BL2 season pass, was on a whim due to the price, games that I'd pretty much written off until a deep discount. Interested, but not enough to pay diddly squat for them. At this point, between spending on myself and gifts, I think I've spent around $50. Which for practically a year's worth of gaming, is pretty good.

This year's sale also taught me I need to start using the wishlist, because I don't have the time to trawl through all of Steam's games to see what's selling for what. I've mostly been going by the top sellers and while the games may move around, it's largely been the same offerings. So I'm probably done for the most part, although I might get Dishonored if it gets cut more than 66%. I'll probably spend the last days of the sale trawling through everything that's not a top seller, to see if anything catches my interest.

Enjoy Psychonauts. It's an excellent game :)

I recommend to use a gamepad (the xbox360 works like a charm), and use the gamepad icon patcher (the game shows the keyboard keys even with gamepad, and it's confusing as hell)

Well I took a leap and bought Velvet Assassin for around $1.90 as it was on sale for $2.49 with a 75% discount and I had some change in my Steam Wallet from selling trading cards.

A lot of reviews say it's pretty bad, but going into the Steam Discussion section of the forums, those who actually play the game enjoy it despite reading reviewer's comments.... and it's been recommended by a few players.

Many of the comments sound similar to some comments I came across in the past regarding RO2 vs. more main stream games, so I got it.

Though the developer kind of went teets up in 2009..... Hmmmm.... oh well.

Vote for Strike Suit Zero for the next community sale. It is a basic but solid space based shooter, and there are hardly any of those these days. And it has mod support and mod tools. :) If the 85% off applies to Strike Suit Infinity, you can get it for under $1.50 or so. It is a standalone and more arcade style wave based spin off in which you can choose your reinforcements.

TBH, I found the game itself to be fairly arcadey. It is solid, but it's not exactly a space flight sim. If you're hoping for something that plays like Free Space 2 or something, you may end up disappointed.

98% of all "space sims" aren't space sims. They're either shooters like Strike Suit or RPGs/trading hybrid shooters set in space like Free Space. Strike Suit doesn't falsely advertise or call itself a space sim and is nice for what it is. The majority of space shooters in recent years have been extremely bad and buggy. For the price of $3 it is rather decent if you like this type of game.

I should note that the story is about as dull and sterile as it gets, and the game is mission based.

I thought I would point out Star Wars Starfighter, which is on sale for $3.34. It is a very old game but I bought it about two years back on Steam for $2.50. Fun game. I had Jedi Starfighter on the PS2 for about a decade and while it is the better game (with co-op in the campaign) it sadly never made it to PC. I was glad that I was able to finally play the prequel though.

I followed it from its first day on Kickstarter until I bought it for full price on Steam. I'm well aware of what it did or didn't call itself. Point is though, I got about half way through it and found myself kind bored. I didn't feel like there was a lot of nuance to it. If you're craving space flight and dog fighting, yes, it will suffice. I just found myself a little underwhelmed by it. (And yes, the stale story and wooden voice acting didn't help.) Playing it I kept getting flashbacks to playing arcade uprights from a decade ago. That's not to say it's dated...it's just how the game's style struck me.

I've sold enough steam nonsense to get $5 in my wallet. Now I just gotta figure out what I want to spend that on.

Sleeping Dogs.
Deus Ex Human Revolution + The Missing Link.
Alan Wake + American Nightmare.

Assuming you don't have them already.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution, that is all...

Bought loads in other sales just before it though.

Well, so far I got Rising Storm (finally!), T72, system Shock 2 and Fallout New Vegas with all the DLC.

Everything with the money I made with those trading cards since beta (around $25. I could have been a bit more, but I crafted a couple of badges out of curiosity).

Still have $3.6 available. I wanted Jade empire, but the last time it was on a cheap sale was 359 days ago :p

How many cards did you have? I got a foil RO2 T-34. Not exactly an IS-2... :IS2:

Thinking of getting the Deus Ex HR Explosive Mission pack DLC. Its cheap, but I want to see what else I can get with my Steam wallet. Doubt I can get much as I only have about $2 on it. I am considering CS: GO as well. If Rising Storm was $5 I would have considered it.

I have 22 games with cards so far. Being short of dollars I decided to keep only those from games I liked the most, and sell the rest (including any repeated card from my favorite list), hoping to get enough money for RS. I made a good amount during beta, because cards were a little more expensive then (for example, I sold 2 simple cards from Go Home Dinosaurs to some russian guy for $2 each!).

That explains. The cards are not worth very much at the moment. If anyone wants a foil RO2 T-34 card by any chance, let me know (to sell it).
